So the first time I tried KDE, it was slow, wonky, full of errors, and I wanted to give it a fair shake on a clean install. So far its...okay I guess? I need to deep dive into customizing it I think, but I kind of miss the simplicity of Gnome. I ll have to look into hyprland and sway.

Yeah for a more windows like experience just stick with KDE or gnome I’m just partial to KDE because it’s what I started on Linux with there isn’t much difference really

I just want to settle into arch for a bit first. I'm trying to see the quirks before I dive into something else. Maybe a month or two. I sent that vid to a programmer friend of mine whos moving to arch and he seems fully on board with hyprland so appreciate then info

Yeah it’s very much a workflow thing, if you are just tinkering around there really isn’t a need unless you are into “ricing”

Hyprland and tmux make me more productive for sure.

If you are new to tiling managers I’d go with hyprland it’s really easy to find a good config and be plug and play. I prefer KDE over gnome but I usually stick to hyprland because it just feels good and productive to not really use my mouse for anything anymore other than games.

Btw, what terminal do you use? I just downloaded kitty but everyone is abuzz about ghostty? Seems to still be in closed beta though.

I’ve been using kitty for the past 4-5 months and I’ve had no problems and it’s easy to customize
