whereas I feel like if you're going to do romantic storylines at all, it's better to have that conversation out in the open rather than suggesting the performers should sort it out themselves, since "people online would like to see US kiss, do you want to do it" could potentially be even worse

I’d say that’s even a pre requisite for any type of storyline or angle.

Par exemple: “Oh, Swerve, we’re going to stab you with a hypodermic needle tonight.”

I’m not sure we’re having a discussion on the same wavelength if we’re assuming forced kissing would happen and brush past forced violence.
