Andrew Neil got 1.7 million views just asking questions about whether this bonkers conspiracy theory was true. When given the answers, he got 200k views for noting it was 'Twitter bollocks peddled by numpties'. He then took credit for 'discrediting' the conspiracy, not amplifying it!

Okay maybe this is too hot a take for 5:30pm on a Saturday but I think meme accounts that don’t give any attribution paved the way for people to accept AI words and imagery because it separated culture and entertainment from the idea that someone had to have those thoughts and compose them.

Could it be that Blue Labour making the case for Reform's policy platform actually benefits Reform?

Not sure antagonist goes far enough, but yeah, let's go with that for now. A champion? Oh do fuck off

Oh FFS, just shoot me now. This is getting too painful to watch

“Football is for everyone. If our rainbow makes you uncomfortable, the problem isn’t our pride, it’s your prejudice. We stand with love, always. 💙🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍🌈” #NoToHate | #WhoeverYouMayBe 🫶🏻

Viktor Orban's decision to completely ban pride is backfiring dramatically. Now Pride is becoming the rallying cry of the opposition against him, and people who would have never even supported that movement are starting to support it. It's becoming the Umbrella term unifying the anti-Orban movement.

Imagine driving away from the petrol station and realising you left your steak bake at the pump, you’d drive into the central reservation wouldn’t you

naive political pundits see McBride's interview and fox jumping on it and assume that conservative media will immediately stop their most major, years-long propaganda campaign. they will not.

We still have no idea who the ICE agents are. They could be insurrectionists, extremist militiamen or criminals themselves, chasing law-abiding citizens down the street for recording their kidnappings. The odds they aren't are low. Congress must raise hell about this. A masked gang runs our country.

This is horrifying.

Yes, Rep. Melissa Hortman was a consequential Speaker of the Minnesota house. But what distinguishes her career is character. Did you know this about her?

When people said Full Bush was in this year, I didn’t think they meant they wanted the US to invade a Middle Eastern nation falsely claiming they had weapons of mass distruction

*gets hit by truck when driver has heart attack*

Once in like 1999 I went into a Gristedes to buy some cereal and milk and when I opened the milk fridge a fucking bat flew out, hit me in the face, and flew up to the ceiling (its home, clearly) and when I told the woman at the front she was like yeah, he gets trapped in there sometimes

Looks like Harvard could potentially cave to the Trump administration. And of course, race and diversity would be the first casualty. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/20/u...

this is such an important point. i do not think that the typical american understands that for most of their lives, someone like james madison or george washington or thomas jefferson was *surrounded* by black people.

"Harrington wouldn’t give him a clear answer about his funding request, telling him, 'Unfortunately you keep finding more slaves,' he said, and that “every new person is a source of guilt and shame for Harvard.'" Yeah, I'm sure that'll go away if you just bury it.

wait what? www.nytimes.com/2025/06/21/u...

⚡️🏳️‍🌈After Viktor Orbán’s government passed an anti-LGBT law to ban the Pride march in Hungary, Budapest mayor Gergely Karácsony announced the city will officially organize Budapest Pride as a municipal event on June 28. This means the ban won’t apply: police can’t disperse the crowd or issue fines.

reposting this old twitter thread because whenever there's a heatwave multiple people tell me it helped them

It's become increasingly difficult to make a living depending on the kindness of strangers, so I am turning to the maliciousness of strangers instead - if you buy a print from me, there's a reasonable chance I'll get a paper cut

If I got banned from the vet for being so rude to staff that they described me as vile you would never see me again as I’d be so embarrassed, let alone going to the papers to announce to the world that I’m a dickhead and suing the vet

"We told a load of lies that enabled the ongoing broader discrimination of trans people, but all we have to do is print a tiny retraction rather than have any responsibility for the harm we have caused."

"Ethiopia’s forgotten war is the deadliest of the 21st century, with around 600,000 civilian deaths" - every couple of weeks I think about how this happened between 2020 and 2022 and just...never really made or stayed in the news. english.elpais.com/internationa...

After sitting on this film for months, the BBC finally announce they won't broadcast it after its Director says Israel is committing war crimes and ethnic cleansing in Gaza (they are). BBC says this isn't impartial because "Israel has denied accusations of war crimes" www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Rivers of Perspiration is the lesser known speech by Enoch Powell

You'd think Elon would be familiar with the phrase "Garbage In, Garbage Out". Having a LLM decide what the correct version of the entirety of human knowledge is, deciding what's "wrong" and deleting "errors", in a recursive fashion, is a profoundly stupid idea, even for Elon.

I'm sure this will be read and shared widely by people who believed it in the first place.

It is quite remarkable how so many men understand perfectly well what personal space means when they’re queuing with other men but somehow magically forget when they’re queuing with women. Yes I am on public transport again.

Mind-blowing story in the Daily Rowling of Allison Bailey, sacked by her vet they say because she was rude and a massive bully to their staff, suing it for £25k via Akua 'Honest Guv, I really am an independent EHRC commissioner' Rheindorf KC. JK Rowling's billions have properly rotted their brains.

Halloween gonna be extra fucked up this year because you know people are gonna dress up like this thinking it's funny

This is incredibly funny but, also, I hope everyone who is pro AI or a teacher that allows AI can see clear as day that the ultimate goal is to put the thumb on the scale of all of this shit. That's why they're forcing it on us. It's a joke.
