I see some discourse about ditching the former Twitter, and so I'll remind folks that the best reason to there is that it's a fucking Nazi bar and we all deserve better. I'm on social media to enjoy conversation with cool folks. Bluesky does a bang-up job of that. The former Twitter doesn't.

This really cannot be said enough. The only two major internal crisis's in the US are combatting climate change and affording healthcare.

Watch the slow motion: it appears to me that the officers discuss the photographer and reporter before the one on the end fires on them (it looks to me like he's aiming at the camera, not the reporter, but you decide)

Babies can’t be vaccinated but the folks around them sure can.

Cutting federal funding to cancer research to pay for an endless line of tanks filing past the Washington monument.

Pretty egregious error from this book: The authors say Swedish deaths fell by 2.3% during the pandemic, proving that the country's lax lockdown strategy worked. But they misread their source: Mortality is only down if you remove the COVID deaths. research.abo.fi/ws/portalfil...

Pretty sure this should tell you all you need to know about the veracity of the DOJ's charges against Kilmar Abrego Garcia.

In 2019, NIAID proposed an ambitious scientific network focused on pandemic preparedness, research, and response - the "CREID Network". Ten centers kicked off just as the pandemic was taking off, playing critical roles throughout. We were just notified the whole network is terminated. Reason? 👇

remember, this guy ran illegal medical experiments on autistic children using castration drugs and lost his medical license because of it

must be incredibly frustrating and disheartening to have federal funding that was promised to you for important work suddenly and arbitrarily ripped away

Lyft driver picked me up from UNC, turned out he was a medicinal chemistry post-doc in a building near mine, until his grant got cut last month. Worked on novel antivirals.

Cost estimate of the House-passed "Big Beautiful Bill" is out It'd be the largest cut to Medicaid+CHIP and SNAP in history while still increasing deficits by $2.4 trillion due to $3.8 trillion in tax cuts This'd be the largest transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich in a single law in history

Kind of jars you, hearing someone speaking truth so plainly after what we’ve been conditioned to accept as “news”

"If you’re among the vast sea of Americans who remain enthusiastically grateful for vaccines, the time for pushing back against Kennedy isn’t later, when he’ll likely be ratcheting up his program to 'reevaluate' longstanding pediatric vaccines."

“It’s why every time an incremental vaccine restriction results in a public shrug, he feels emboldened to go a bit further.” This is important. First he takes away something people don’t care much about—Covid boosters—so that later it seems more normal when he takes away polio vaccines.

Heavy stuff. The Regime desires to completely eliminate the Forest Service’s R&D division. Shocking. R&D is statutorily mandated. R&D is part and parcel to management of the forests. It’s how we keep communities & firefighters safe. How we plan for the future. This is wrong. And unlawful.

The media shuffles this aside because either oh it’s Trump being Trump or because they’re running cover for him. And it’s easy to dismiss as more nonsense. But suggesting members of the opposition party are clones/robots/NPCs is dangerous: it unpersons them, makes them likelier targets of violence.

This past flu season was a deadly one for kids. The #CDC reported today that it has been informed of another 4 pediatric flu deaths, which takes the year's to-date total to 235. The only worse season on record was the 2009 H1N1 pandemic, which was really hard on kids. www.cdc.gov/fluview/surv...

How bad will it be? Catastrophic. Proposed cuts to #NSF, #NIH, and #NASA will set the US R&D landscape back 25 yrs+, cause economic and job loss now, and undermine innovations to come. But, this is the WH's *proposed* budget. Speak up now before it is too late. (inflation adjusted $-s below)

There are 2 previous historical cases of countries destroying their science and universities, crippling them for decades: Lysenkoism in the USSR and Nazi Germany. The Trump administration will be the 3rd. It's not just budgets but research, institutions, expertise, and training the next generation.

Needs more press: -227 kids have died from influenza so far this flu season -90% unvaccinated -kids flu vax rates have dropped from 64% to 49% in past 5 years Kids are dying from anti-vax nonsense and very few are reporting it. mailchi.mp/messages/pan... Thank you: @jennifernuzzo.bsky.social

I'm Dr. Annie Andrews. I’m a pediatrician, not a politician. But either way I know how to handle people who are full of sh*t. Today I am announcing my campaign for US Senate to replace Lindsey Graham. Share this if you're with me. www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8wM...

This is the way the world ends This is the way the world ends This is the way the world ends Not with a bang but a bunch of dipshits who want us all to have bird flu, I guess, that or Covid, probably both, some kind of Fluvid, anyway everything is going great

Breaking news from the can't-make-this-shit-up desk: The same folks who are certain that Fauci caused COVID by funding people to study bats in a Biosafety Level 4 facility now want to import 400 ostriches with the goddamn bird flu from Canada so they can live on Dr. Oz's ranch.

These plague-loving woo fucks want IMPORT A GODDAMN AVIAN FLU OSTRICH FLOCK Gift link: www.nytimes.com/2025/05/28/w...

This is a terrible decision. Our ability to respond to pandemic influenza viruses is now severely compromised.

BREAKING: In a serious blow to US pandemic flu preparedness, HHS has cancelled a contract with Moderna to test and license prototype vaccines for #H5N1 #birdflu and other potential pandemic viruses. In a pandemic, mRNA is the fastest way to vaccine doses. www.statnews.com/2025/05/28/m...

"No professors in the College of Arts and Sciences, the university’s primary academic unit, have received tenure this year."

Kennedy, Makary, and Bhattacharya announced on X that they are pulling recommendations for Covid vaccines. They will no longer be part of the childhood vaccination schedule, and they're no longer recommended for pregnant people. There's a process for changing recs. It's not posting a video on X.

Today, I’m remembering my great-grandmother, who was baptized over her mother’s coffin during & due to the 1918-20 influenza pandemic. Acute respiratory infections during pregnancy can have devastating, permanent consequences. To throw away the tools to prevent them is as asinine as it is cruel.

Last week Prasad and Makary announced their new plan to make COVID boosters not available for those without high-risk conditions. Even they recognized pregnancy as a high risk condition. Today their boss said nope, no COVID vaccines for pregnant people. Another decision that will kill people

Do not listen to RFK Jr. on covid vaccines for pregnant people. Listen to the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, which STRONGLY recommends a covid vaccine during pregnancy, for the health of the pregnant person and the fetus. 🧪 www.acog.org/covid-19/cov...

We know babies die from COVID, and we know vaccinating pregnant mothers can help protect babies until they’re old enough to be vaccinated. This is going to kill people, and that is the point.

Apropos of nothing, here’s a lady who gave birth while on ECMO for Covid

The effects of Covid in pregnancy are devastating and preventable by vaccination; now we have strong data from Penn Medicine that vaccines protect children and adolescents from long Covid

It's quite obvious RFK.Jr has been spared the trauma of seeing pregnant people intubated in the icu with severe covid infection fighting for the lives. Pregnancy is a risk factor for severe covid. Not recommending vaccines in pregnancy is reckless and unscientific. www.nbcnews.com/health/healt...

Aside from the fact that anyone can get seriously ill from COVID, a key point they are deliberately hiding when removing access is that COVID vaccines reduce transmission. People choose to get vaccinated to protect other people. It is wrong and harmful to take that choice away.

We're suing the Trump administration over its politically-motivated termination of research grants that has already harmed scientists and our communities. Political ideology shouldn't dictate public health.

Academic freedom in the United States has found itself periodically under siege, but the current attacks from the federal government raise a new level of alarm. nyer.cm/u405qvQ

tl;dr — this EO co-opts the language of open science to implement a system of political control wherein presidential appointees are given broad latitude to designate any number of reasonable scientific activities and inferences as scientific misconduct, and to penalize those involved accordingly.

“… peer-reviewed literature is dominated by articles supporting a zoonotic origin” while lab leak papers “are rare, fringe, and mutually incompatible with each other.” Correct. And it’s not because one side is “censored”. It’s because one side has zero evidence. www.factcheck.org/2025/05/trum...
