Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay the day before Antiques Roadshow. #Trolls, #frogs, #family.

Had a good birthday. Friends, family, and fishing. 1/2

Solidarity with the demonstrations today. “…and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.” #nokings

Conditions in the Antarctic winter can be pretty hostile, but science continues... this is deployment of an instrument that is lowered to just above the seabed, and gives us data on ocean temperature, salinity, oxygen content, and other important variables. 🧪🌊🥼🌊

NPR's internship program is coming back! Apply by June 30 to work with the Science Desk and Short Wave this fall/winter. I was an intern in 2019, and it set me on the path towards coming back for a staff job! job-boards.greenhouse.io/nationalpubl...

Almost-7-yr-old and I experimented with some non-Newtonian fluids (‘oobleck!’) and attempted to make a pink piedmont #glacier. Modeled after Malaspina Glacier (📸), Maybe need to adjust the cornstarch a little, as it was a bit of a runaway glacier, but fun nevertheless 🙂. 🧪 🥼❄️ 🌊 ⚒️

These Cypripedium acaule (pink lady slippers) are flowering in the swampy woods adjacent to our house. I love living in a Maine swamp. #swamplife #boglife #Maine

Last Wednesday the Birchgletscher in the Swiss Alps collapsed, devastating large parts of the village #Blatten and blocking the Lonza river which created a small lake. Thanks to aerial images shared by #swisstopo, I was able to create a 3D model of the area. You can explore it here 👉 skfb.ly/pxHLC

This saved my life. So maybe… yours too? Bjork sings with almost orgasmic levels of joy. Girls do it better. #MusicSky #LiveMusic

On our way home from Iceland, our @umaine.bsky.social ‘Sea to Sky’ team was treated to spectacular views of the southern tip of Greenland earlier today! I’ll never grow tired of looking out the window… ❄️🥼🧪🌊⚒️ #Sea2Sky

#UMaine ‘Sea to Sky’ update: Our team visited CarbFix and the Hellisheiði geothermal plant. I was excited to finally see the CarbFix injection site after hearing about the operation from Wally Broecker and Juerg Matter during my time at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory. 🧪 🌊 ⚒️ 1/

#UMaine ‘Sea to Sky’ update: Our crew visited a spectacular #lava tube in the 5,200-yr-old Leitahraun lava field. #Sea2Sky w/ @alpinesciences.bsky.social, @jillpelto.bsky.social, and Shelob the spider.

I had the pleasure of introducing several brilliant next-gen students to the incredible @karinarykman.bsky.social this evening. I shared with them this video from Portland, ME, two years ago. 🤯

We were thrilled to meet Andri Snær Magnason (@andrimagnason.bsky.social) today. He spoke with our #UMaine ‘Sea-to-Sky Experience’ group today. He shared his views on global change, discussed his latest book ‘On Time and Water’, and even introduced the premise of his latest work with us. 🧪⚒️🌊🥼❄️

#UMaine ERS 420 ‘Sea to Sky Experience’ update: Back on the Reykjanes Peninsula marveling at the lava flows associated with the recent Grindavík eruptions this past year. #Sea2Sky w/ @alpinesciences.bsky.social 🧪⚒️🌊🥼❄️
