Past Little Ranger peak, I attempted to hike through a section of forest burned in the 2017 Norse Peak Fire. After 20 minutes and about as many scrapes and bruises, I gave up on climbing through all the blowdowns. But not before seeing this Ptarmigan!

I spent perhaps the last sunny day in Washington for a bit along the Skagit River. Saw bald eagles, killdeer, merganser, an American Dipper, a deeply incompetent presidential administration wasting government resources on hateful legislation, crows, robins, buffleheads, and one (1) opossum.
