World leaders can make as many statements as they like opposing Israel's actions in Gaza. Until they end the sale of weapons to Israel, they remain complicit in the mass murder of Palestinians. Stop arming genocide, now.

Israel allowed 9 trucks of aid into Gaza yesterday Tess Ingram from UNICEF: "A drop in the ocean... we have an ocean of need. We have 2m people who've endured 3mths of being deprived of all of the basics that they need to survive... a handful of trucks is not enough"

There is a shocking (but not shocking) story in Haaretz about the Romanian election... As you are aware, the Israeli government tries to smear everyone who opposes their genocide as "anti-semitic". Meanwhile, however, they work hand-in-hand with actual anti-semites to try and further their agenda.🧵

Just one university - UCL - employs almost twice as many people as there are working in fishing boats.

American policitians: Murdering journalists & medics is ok. Raping people to death is ok. Bombing hospitals is ok. Blowing up universities is ok. Burning people alive in tents is ok. Killing 60,000+ people is ok. But openly starving 2m people to death makes us look bad so stop it

BREAKING: Gary Lineker to leave the BBC in disgrace this week, following a pattern of unacceptable behaviour which involved objecting to war crimes and genocide x

Someone has finally been held accountable for the war in Gaza, and it's Gary Lineker www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

This moment from a session of Italy's parliament went viral when politician Angelo Bonelli launched a scathing attack on PM Giorgia Meloni for her support of Israel's war on Gaza.

I'd like to recommend this speech by Lea Ypi (made last week). Some really important points here www.festwochen.at/en/rede-an-e...

Nicusor Dan won because he persuaded young people to vote. He didn't ignore them, he talked to them. He didn't chase the right wing vote, he just talked about positive things, why the EU is a benefit, what Romania could be. He used facts.

Also of some note that Nicusor Dan didn’t tack to the right between the rounds and didn’t dance to Simion’s tune. Not all mainstream parties supported him and not all strategists were happy with him, but Romanians voted for him over the radical right today.

youtu.be/nY72oYTT5uA?...

Incidentally, knowing and loving the city, I can say that Nicușor Dan has done a brilliant job as mayor of Bucharest. If he can carry that on to the national stage then his election would be excellent news for Romania in its own right, quite apart from keeping out that ignorant fascist thug Simion.

HAI, HAI, HAI, this is basically top of my expectations. AGAIN, health warnings: pro-Simion error in first round, exit polls do not count diaspora who are a significant portion of the vote, but hey 10 points is not to be sniffed at.

Labour MP Rosena Allin-Khan: "Food is being used as a weapon of war.. we have a moral responsibility to act & if we don't act immediately this will be on us.. we can impose sanctions.. we can stop selling arms to the Israeli govt & we should be revisiting our free trade deal with Israel"

Israel has destroyed every university and 85 percent of schools in Gaza. Four young women talk about how they keep studying amid the violence.

"What's concerning is the use of explosive devices planted by the Israeli military in a densely populated neighbourhood." Al Jazeera's Hani Mahmoud reports on the new evacuation orders against Palestinians in Gaza and the unrelenting Israeli attacks across the besieged enclave.

In short, Starmer has taken a massive hit among Labour voters, for no gain elsewhere, while boosting Farage's popularity, including doubling his ceiling among Labour voters. I.e., the political scientists were right, Morgan McSweeney was horrendously wrong.

Genocidal scum. Never forget, never forgive Israel. www.972mag.com/israel-gaza-...

"Bringing Arsenal into disrepute". I;d argue that firing someone for opposing genocide brings the club into far more disrepute. I can only assume that Arsenal FC are fully in favour of genocide and apartheid novaramedia.com/2025/05/16/a...

this is a letter to the editor from a high school track runner who came in second to a trans girl in a race. her state house rep in maine started talking about it. so she wrote this: www.pressherald.com/2025/05/14/r...

No one who cares about wildlife and ecosystems is now likely to vote Labour in 2029. Or about Gaza. Or poverty. Or inequality. Or international aid. Or corporate power. Or democratic reform. Or racism. Or trans rights. So that's goodbye to just about its entire vote. What are they playing at?

A principled student said in a grad speech that the “only appropriate thing to say in this moment” is to acknowledge the “atrocities” currently being committed in Palestine. In response, NYU is withholding their diploma + apologizing to the community for the trauma the audience was “subjected to.”

Free speech absolutists bash up old man for using free speech.

The latest news from Romania's election: George Simion has at some point appeared on a flat earther podcast and told us that scientists should tell us conclusively if the Earth is flat or round because apparently this is something they've been unclear on. This man is likely to be President.

"I look at Starmer's trajectory and it is immensely difficult not to notice the trail of devastation left behind. Disabled people, Palestinians, trans people, and now immigrants. All I can see is someone who is willing to throw anyone out of his hot air balloon, just so it can rise higher."

US surgeon Dr Feroze Sidhwa: "If destroying Hamas requires dropping 12 bombs on one small hospital.. and then releasing a video that doesn't even show the building that your purporting to bomb, I think that shows clearly you're just bombing the hospital to bomb the hospital"

"Two tiny shrouds lie next to the wrapped bodies of their parents in a Gaza morgue" The UK govt is helping Israel do this.

Keir Starmer is my MP. This is the letter I wrote to him today. Subject: Island of Strangers? Mr Starmer, Let me tell you about this ‘stranger’.

My response to the decision of Glasgow Pride to suspend participation by political parties. In short, the culture war against our community has gone on far too long, and needs to end.

It is frightening how much support there is for extremism in Romania. It is true that half a country chose not to vote, but to have ~40% of vote in the 1st round of presidential elections for a protofascist supported by a fascist is extremely problematic. Sunday is the 2nd round and stress is ⬆️.

So, for those killed and those whose voices are silenced: what more evidence do you need? Will you act now – decisively – to prevent genocide in Gaza and to ensure respect for international humanitarian law? This Council must prevail. Demand this ends.

You know what you call people who murder children? People who murder children .

The BBCs Middle East correspondent describes ethnic cleansing as "a very controversial subject". No. It's a war crime.
