This is the funniest science writeup I've seen in a long time. It's about why cats are so perfectly evolved 🧪 Apparently lots of other animals have "tried to be cats" and the fact that other species have so much more variation is "because they suck" 😆 www.scientificamerican.com/article/cats...

Zimbabwe will play 11 Tests this year (8 at home) despite not being part of the World Test Championship. Why? How much will it cost them? And how much will they gain? I found out here: ⬇️ www.espncricinfo.com/story/2025-i...

This week on Cricket Sickos is @norcrosscricket.bsky.social! Daniel reminisces about creating the alternative commentary group Test Match Sofa (precursor to Guerilla Cricket) and talks about what made it and that time in his life so special. Spotify: open.spotify.com/episode/5qpu...

I joined @emergingcricket.bsky.social again last week to chat all things Women's World Cup Qualifier, Tanzania's 🇹🇿astonishing qualification to the #U19WC and NZ 🇳🇿 Cricket's decision to invest in Major League Cricket. Please check out the podcast below. #cricket open.spotify.com/episode/1nVT...

This week on Cricket Sickos, Monique joins the podcast to talk about her experiences with accessibility in cricket on and off the field, culminating in her getting involved with Australia's National Cricket Inclusion Championships! Spotify: open.spotify.com/episode/6HI0...

This week on Cricket Sickos, @cschiwanza.bsky.social talked about his experiences covering South African cricket, including giving important context on big issues like SA20 and Transformation. Spotify: open.spotify.com/episode/5kOh...

Narrow Stairs-era Death Cab was my gateway band to indie rock, which was revolutionary for me growing up in a place where noone knew what indie music was. I'm eternally grateful they introduced me to all kinds of cool music, not least Transatlanticism-era Death Cab.

This week on Cricket Sickos, I was joined by Final Word friend Jane (@seejanecricket.bsky.social)! We talk about Jane's journey as a cricket fan and settle on gushing over one of our shared favourite players, the total legend that is Ellyse Perry. Spotify: open.spotify.com/episode/6qPv...

Appreciate the support as always, Guy!

Excellent article, unfortunately this issue also affects coverage of other sports. Not only are overtly partisan pundits annoying to hear, it also ignores what the other team is doing as if only one of the teams on field matters. Broadcasters assuming this is what viewers want is insulting.

This week on Cricket Sickos, I was incredibly lucky to talk to @finalwordcricket.bsky.social's Adam Collins! Given that TFW has played such a big part in my and many others' cricket obsession, I asked him all sorts about what goes into making it and why it connects with so many of us.

Four teams with a chance of getting through in the last round of games in the women's World Cup qualifier! Pakistan looking real shaky vs Thailand too...

On one hand, I'm very happy to see Thailand score more than 250 against a good team, it's great to see their batting lineup take this step. On my other, Indonesian-supporting hand, I'm worried that their form will be too good come the Southeast Asian Games late this year.

Taro and Rubi having a moment of getting along (thankfully becoming increasingly frequent) - even managing a synchronised yawn!

Are we absolutely sure that Freo is allowed to score more than 100 points?

This week on Cricket Sickos is Swiss cricket fan Laura (@la_tifosa.bsky.social)! Laura's cricketing origin story has reached a big audience including that of Tailenders and Glenn Maxwell himself, so I hope you enjoy this expanded and updated version! Spotify: open.spotify.com/episode/5AdX...

As much as I want Thailand to have a chance of winning a game at these World Cup qualifiers, I think any total over 200 would be tough for them to chase (and Bangladesh looks like making well over that today).

An ICC board director says he would vote against a two division Test proposal if it does not include promotion and relegation. The plan has not been tabled at ICC board level but is expected to be discussed at meetings in Zimbabwe in the coming days www.forbes.com/sites/trista...

Scotland win over WI and Pakistan squeezing past Ireland is a bloody good start to the qualifiers! It'll be tough for WI to be one game down and possibly without Matthews in future games. Still also holding out hope that Bangladesh makes a case for getting through, and for Thailand to win a game.

England A women avoid a 50-over whitewash by winning this 3rd match, but not before having a run out for their 9th wicket with 6 balls to spare and scores level!

Since the end of last season, I've been thinking about retirements, endings and how cricket mirrors life so much and have been putting it into words which the brilliant Cricket Described have published today. If you miss Jimmy, Thorpey or Ashwin, here you are: cricketdescribed.au/2025/04/06/c...

This week on Cricket Sickos is Shaun from the Talkin' T20 podcast (@absentmindguy.bsky.social)! It was a great chat about stumbling upon cricket in the US, sharing it with his kids, and having no gatekeepers telling him what is and isn't "real" cricket. Spotify: open.spotify.com/episode/25CH...

Can someone please help me find the stream for the women's Australia A vs England A 50 over match? Pretty sure it's meant to be on the Cricket Australia channel on Youtube but it's not showing up for me. Thank you!

do you like cricket? do you like puzzles? do you like getting mad online? we've brought your interests together at last in the ill-conceived daisy cutter cryptic crossword! is it brilliant? no. is it fun? hope so it took ages 🥺. have a go 👇🏻 crosshare.org/crosswords/X...

Taking a break from pre-Eid cooking to watch the Shield final, unfortunately timed it badly and only caught the 5 minutes before the tea break. Hard to imagine 12 months ago that Jason Sangha would be leading the charge in a Shield final!

On the Cricket Sickos podcast today we have @andrewnixon.bsky.social! We talk about his history with the Associate game and why he identifies with that part of cricket so much, as well as the various ways cricket could treat Associate members better. Spotify: open.spotify.com/episode/0Oee...
