The National Archives belong to We the People. These records are used by historians and other researchers, but also veterans, Native nations, genealogists, students, and so many more people.

2004 Iraq: Islamic extremists invade US, join sleeper cells 2025 Iran: Islamic extremists invade US, join sleeper cells Please don't buy into this anti-Muslim propaganda. It is racist & dangerous. Keep the focus on the facts: Trump violated the US constitution & must be held accountable. Period

Anyone who thinks war is awesome has never been very close to one. Or else is a deranged psychopath.

Gen X actually had two wars in the Gulf: what Iraqis & Iranians call the First Gulf War (1980-1988) and what Americans call the First Iraq War (1990-1991). Our music was definitely better. But a bunch of our generation turned out to be horrible humans—the same machine the rest of us rage against.

If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, sounds like a duck ... Abolish The Fucking Duck.

DOGE was sold to the American people as a cost-cutting initiative. Instead, it is clearly something far more sinister: a sprawling data-harvesting operation that threatens the constitutional foundations for American democracy, Laura MacCleery writes. buff.ly/6Wkfuia

I'm sorry but the largest protest of my lifetime is not the 7th or 8th biggest news story in the country behind "what does Gen Z want from Instagram?" This shit is humiliating. Rearrange your layout to meet this moment. Omitting the thing happening in every American city is malpractice.

Looks like I picked the wrong month to get out of the guillotine business.

Update: We've removed the paywall for all ye who enter.

I want to talk about how the media is going to be responsible for increasing levels of violence. Here's the thing: the protests have been peaceful.

Here's something I post from time to time. My answer to a reader who asked me: what could journalists do NOW to break with some of their more corrosive habits.

I regret to inform you that "Idiocracy" is the most prescient film about modern America in the same way that "Catch-22" is the most incisive book about war.

"911, what's your emergency?" "I'd like to report a murder."

Funding for public media has been threatened in the past, but this is different. Please listen and share widely. This is bigger than Big Bird -- not just an attack on PBS and NPR but on local programming in diverse, rural, and tribal communities everywhere. copperstateofmind.show/episode/save...

"Independent journalists like Kabas uncovering major scoops are something of an existential threat to mainstream media’s business model, because they prove that you don’t need to spend millions of dollars to report the news."

"When in doubt, draw a distinction." 🧵 In grad school one of my professors told me that. Some of the best advice I have ever received. This is a thread about the key distinctions I use in my work. I had a version of it posted at the other joint, which I revised a bit to make this one. Ready? 1/

"...And I finally came to this conclusion: You simply cannot cover Trump’s second term accurately and responsibly if you are not willing to situate his acts as part of a terrifying descent into authoritarianism, racism, and cruelty." — @froomkin.bsky.social presswatchers.org/2025/01/why-...

If you’re able to, please consider donating to the Hopi Foundation! You’ll be supporting a few of the tribe’s programs including their radio station KUYI 88.1 FM Hopi Radio.
