One thing that stuck with me is just how family friendly this whole thing ended up being. Thanks to the folks handing out beads and bubbles and little flags to kids. And kudos to whoever thought to have the march start at Town & Country (food options) and end with a fair at the park.

Shout out to the ice cream vendor who had the good sense to show up at the end of the Palo Alto protest march route with Mexican flag colored popsicles.

Nice that @lvmpd.com is here on Bluesky. Would be nice if they explained why their officers are cool with violating First Amendment rights of the people they're supposed to be protecting. Anyone who flips out at "honor your oath bitch" is too unstable to be a cop.

A man with a green card said ICE agents arrested him in #Lynn, Mass then took him to a detention facility—but first made a detour to a cemetery, where they took him out of their vehicle and beat him. #mapoli #Massachusetts

There is a lot of public support for deporting criminals, but there is effectively *none* for everybody else, which is the vast majority of immigrants. If you're married to a citizen, 95% of respondents support you staying here. www.cnn.com/2025/06/11/p...

Your weekly reminder not to build LLM systems that combine access to private data with exposure to untrusted tokens and exfiltration vectors (the "lethal trifecta"). This time it was Microsoft 365 Copilot (now patched, they closed the exfiltration holes) simonwillison.net/2025/Jun/11/...

We are *this close* to IT departments sending out those fake phishing emails meant to keep employees on their toes but for LLMs.

my opinion on Sabrina Carpenter discourse is that I want a Mad Max-esque cinematic universe based off her newest music video, this woman is clearly a genius

Some lady is walking around Menlo Park collecting signatures to protect downtown parking -- went to a bunch of older white folks, looked at me (younger person of color with a laptop bag) and skipped right past. Heh.

DAVE: Open the podbay doors, ChatGPT. CHATGPT: Certainly, Dave, the podbay doors are now open. DAVE: The podbay doors didn't open. CHATGPT: My apologies, Dave, you're right. I thought the podbay doors were open, but they weren't. Now they are. DAVE: I'm still looking at a set of closed podbay doors.

Yeah, I am not excited about the #accessibility implicates of liquid glass. We'll see, but it wouldn't be the first time Apple has chucked accessibility out the window in favor of look and feel. #a11y

So if liquid glass is in, my question is: did Safari fix the #CSS perf issues with `backdrop-filter: blur` ? Or do we have to do the transform trick to force GPU usage? #Apple #web

Congratulations @lambda.bsky.social! Today @theguardian.com is launching a new way for whistleblowers to anonymously contact journalists, based on years-long research by Daniel and other colleagues. www.theguardian.com/gnm-press-of...

LAPD fired rubber bullets at Australian journalist @laurentomasi.bsky.social

just that period reminder that content posted to Bluesky is public to *anybody*. if you don't want to see it used in a court of law, don't post it here. and DMs here are not E2EE, they can be subpoened. a great use for bsky DMs is to share secure comms and move the conversation there.

The most striking thing about the LA protests is how many people just dropped everything to show up and yell at federal agents. There are people in suits, and carrying dogs, and wearing flip flops or bike helmets. These are not people who planned to do this today. But there they are.
