If I happened to be an owner/operator of a movie theater in New Orleans, I would have already organized a screening of DOWN BY LAW. The fact that nobody seems to have done this in the last week is disappointing.

This is a funny anecdote, not a complaint: I got take out from my go-to BBQ spot and I'm laughing at how stoned someone must have been doing prep work today. I ordered slaw as one of my sides (my mistake, honestly. I grew up on Eastern NC Q, and their slaw is superior to everyone else's).

A story that starts out sounding like entertainment chisme and ends feeling more like an allegory of the 2025 American experience.

Anti-woke.

It's world password day. What's yours?

Now that Sanders is a Brown, he realistically has to hope he gets cut, right? The Browns have FIVE QBs including 2025 3rd and 5th round picks - or did Trump have a "perfect phone call" with Jimmy Haslam? What an embarrassment of an organization.

Vote DICK SOLOMON for Pope.

Remember - the billionaires will remain comfortable and probably gain wealth. Small businesses? Well the decision makers just don't care what happens to them. www.youtube.com/watch?v=__PT...

I am officially declaring that it’s good luck when you find a spider in your bag of lettuce. It’s even better luck when you successfully get the spider outside alive.

I haven't been talking about this publicly as I didn't want to count my chickens before they're hatched, but it's time to announce the publication of my first book "Sweep Around Your Own Door: The long and untold history of Gospel music diss tracks"

Whelp, I guess my productivity, as predicted yesterday, won’t take much of a hit after all.

RIP my productivity the next couple of days.

Running, New Orleans breweries, no need to actually go fast. Sign up for the Legs n Dregs Brewery Marathon (or Half Marathon) today. Na zdrowie!

The very least -- and I mean the VERY least -- these people can do is "don't make it wast for Trump." And apparently they can't even do that.

Cancer benefit auction: An old college friend and colleague while we worked at Papa Jazz Record Shoppe, James Wallace, is in the process of beating cancer. I am auctioning a tape of one of his old bands, The Filter Kings, to help raise funds for his medical expenses. www.ebay.com/itm/15678221...

One of my favorite things about Roy Ayers also involves another of my favorite musicians, Fela Kuti. www.theguardian.com/music/2024/a...

All of his Atlantic LPs are overlooked, imo.

Back in 2021, I recorded this (Almost) Mardi Gras mix. I just dusted it off for anyone out there who needs a healthy fix of New Orleans music tonight and tomorrow. Loads of good, semi-obscure jams to get a party going. Happy Mardi Gras, everyone! www.mixcloud.com/agent45/almo...
