In this wide-ranging Substack Live, @donlemonofficial.bsky.social and I unpack the MAGA rift over Trump’s possible military intervention in Iran and how Netanyahu is trying to push Trump into a regime change war. It's one of our best conversations yet:

I’ve always wanted Republicans to be asked basic questions that would reveal the ignorance underneath their bluster. Weird a moment like this is coming from Tucker Carlson of all people, but I’ll take it.

US Intel says while Iran is enriching uranium, it isn’t actively pursuing nuclear weapons & is years away from developing one. This isn’t just about nukes. The scope of strikes indicate Netanyahu is exploiting a moment of weakness from Iran—proxies crippled—to pursue regime change.

“We”? Trump appears to confirm U.S. backing of Israel’s air campaign targeting Iran, and suggests Israel is using American-made equipment in its strikes.

The "No Kings” protests were the largest single-day mass demonstration in the U.S. since the 2017 Women’s March. Organizers say over 5 million rallied in all 50 states. Meanwhile, Trump's parade was a flop. This was a pro-democracy flex of power.

It’s literally Reverse Robin Hood

One of the smartest decisions the “No Kings” organizers made was not staging a counter-protest of Trump’s parade in DC. He wanted that confrontation. Instead, millions gathered around the country while Trump’s parade fell far short of attendance goals. It made Trump look small.

While Trump’s military parade was sparsely attended, “No Kings” protests rallied millions nationwide. This contrast is emblematic of the core dynamic of Trump’s presidency: He’s an unpopular wannabe authoritarian, incompetently abusing power as the country rejects his delusion.

Law enforcement confirms Governor Tim Walz’s framing: The shooting of Minnesota Democratic Senator John Hoffman and his wife (both recovering), and murder of Speaker Melissa Hortman and her husband, was a politically motivated attack

The handcuffing of Senator Padilla. Militarized ICE raids targeting non-criminal immigrants. Troops deployed to LA. Exploiting the military as political props. Trump's cruel authoritarian overreach is escalating—and Americans are pushing back.

Major W

Kristi Noem was Fox News repeating the lie that Padilla never identified himself, & that once he did, he was freed. Literally the moment agents began removing him, he said, "I’m Senator Alex Padilla." They still forced him to the ground & handcuffed him anyway. Just Orwellian, gaslighting disinfo.

Forcibly removing and detaining a sitting US Senator, Alex Padilla, for simply seeking to question a Trump Admin official during a press conference is totally unjustified authoritarian insanity

The Trump Admin is absolutely out of control

We’ve hit a turning point in Trump’s second term. Americans, in mounting numbers, are speaking out against Trump’s militarized ICE raids targeting non-criminal immigrants. Trump’s cruel authoritarian overreach is, once again, backfiring—and turning the country against him.

If you were wondering why troops cheered on Trump’s partisan tirade at Fort Bragg, this is why: They were screened for political allegiance to Trump, according to @militarydotcom.bsky.social

We should never let ourselves get desensitized to this. It can’t be overstated how outrageously unpresidential and un-American it is for Donald Trump to speak to the US military like they’re his partisan personal army.

To be clear, this is a blatant lie. Trump didn’t get LA under control. LA law enforcement did and protests had already calmed. Trump’s federalization of the National Guard and military deployment can’t even do any civilian law enforcement - unless Insurrection Act invoked.

I’m going live on Substack with @donlemonofficial.bsky.social today at 2pm EST. We’ll talk about the LA protests, the cruel immigration crackdowns that sparked them, and the Trump Admin’s authoritarian escalation. Sign up for the live here: open.substack.com/live-stream/...

On the White House lawn when talking to reporters, Trump just said that if he were Tom Homan, he would arrest Gavin Newsom. He also falsely called LA protestors "insurrectionists," clearly trying to lay the groundwork to invoke the Insurrection Act. Blatant authoritarianism.

Let's not lose sight of what sparked these protests. ICE isn't focused on violent criminals. They're targeting workplaces, courthouses, and families. They detain productive undocumented immigrants, who pay nearly $100 billion in taxes annually & contribute to their communities.

I’m on my way to the @newsnation.bsky.social studio for a panel in the 12pm EST hour to talk through another whirlwind and consequential week of news. Tune in 🙌🏾

In case you missed my Substack Live with @donlemonofficial.bsky.social this week, here it is. From Trump’s Reverse Robin Hood bill to the growing Trump-Musk beef to how the media should cover this chaotic political moment, we broke it all down:

Trump’s bill is floundering. Musk turned on him. And the cracks in the MAGA coalition are growing. I was happy to go back on the Shrinking Trump pod (@reallyamerican.bsky.social) with my friends John Gartner and Harry Segal to talk through it all. Watch: www.youtube.com/live/4JMwNmC...

This Trump-Musk beef was inevitable. Musk served as a heat shield, absorbing political backlash for Trump’s gutting of the federal government. After he became toxic, Trump cast him aside. @chrislhayes.bsky.social and I called this out with @stephruhle.bsky.social back on a February 12 panel 👇🏾

In terms of grudges, Trump has been mad at Rosie O'Donnell since 2006 for something she said on "The View"

Trump talked to multiple reporters on the phone this morning trashing Elon Musk. Trump told ABC’s Jonathan Karl that Musk “lost his mind” and he’s not interested in speaking with him. Trump told CNN’s Dana Bash he won’t speak to Musk for a while, and he has a “problem.” The beef continues.

And to think, just a couple months ago, Trump was saying “👌I love Teslur👌” on the White House lawn. How times have changed

I wrote about how the tech bro (Musk wing) vs. MAGA base (Bannon wing) Cold War would complicate Trump’s agenda in January before he took office. The fractures in the GOP have been clear for a while now. A coalition of grifters can only last for so long: www.ahmedbaba.news/p/gop-divisi...

Lmaoooo

Musk now expressing support for impeaching Trump. This went from 0 to 100 real quick.
