As discussed recently, I hate the language of invisible vs. visible disability—but also, this is one of those things that seems to never die in Disabled communities. Non-apparently Disabled people assuming that apparently Disabled people are somehow treated better. It's just different.

While we’re on founding fathers, I think people actually underrate the Gothic horror of Jefferson and Sally Hemings. She was his slave, she was also his dead wife’s much younger half sister as a result of Jefferson’s father in law raping his slave.

call me pedantic (& i’ll agree) but i think a fundamental issue is the idea itself. the broken system idea is not it because 1) the system is not broken, it’s functioning as it’s meant to, & 2) brokenness implies it can be fixed & therefore doesn’t need to be thrown out completely (which it does).
