I'm continually grateful that I completed my PSLF program before this administration came into power. It took a couple years longer than it should have, but it’s done, and it’s such a relief.

One challenge with trying to grow organically in typical suburbia is that everyone around you uses toxic pesticides and weedkillers, which means they not only leech into my yard, but also ALLLL* the pests migrate to my garden so that my neighbors can have their perfect golf-course lawns. 🤷‍♂️🌱

I love that for weeks now we’ve been getting all our lettuce from the garden. Fresher, more interesting to look at, and tastier than you can easily find in a store. A lot of things struggle in my shady, pest-ridden yard, but as long as I keep the lettuce covered, it just thrives. 🌱

HUGE: Senate Parliamentarian says that Mike Lee's public land sell-off violates the Byrd rule, requires 60 votes in the Senate. A bunch of other terrible anti-environment provisions do too. This isn't over, but this is a huge win. www.budget.senate.gov/ranking-memb...

Had to tear up my whole classroom, including two broadcasting sets, a Co teolnarea, five computer desks, and a number of shelves and filing cabinets, among other things, so it could be recarpeted. First put it all on one side, then they carpeted that side, now it's all on the other side.

Everybody I follow seems to be in a heat wave. Meanwhile, Utah is 30 degrees cooler than last week with lows that threaten our tomatoes and peppers.

It hasn't even been a month since last time, but I already blogged again. createtoserve.wixsite.com/dogdays/post...

A #BlueskyLullaby for tonight: This video from Berlin just went up a few hours ago—a whistled version of "When You Wish Upon a Star." Ryosuke Takeuchi, a Japanese professional whistler, is joined by percussionist Ravi Srinivasan. See you around. www.youtube.com/watch?v=5C3n...

Getting ready to start a family scripture study before bed.

Got to meet @laughlax.bsky.social today and confirm that he is indeed a real, corporeal being working on a sustainable energy future. I'm glad it finally worked out!

Some photos from today of a young Peregrine Falcon and a dragonfly from the park. A local falconer brought the 16-day-old bird for the kids to see. The dragonflies came on their own initiative. 📷📸🪶

A fun picture from a rocket launch activity today. 📷📸

Not a lawyer, but that clip that’s circulating of the last moments of a lawyer’s life left me laughing and also being really impressed with the judge.

the destruction of chattel slavery is one of the great accomplishments in our nation's history and the reason conservatives hate celebrating it is because doing so legitimizes the black counter-narrative of the united states

I suspect that fact that the vast majority of LLM users don’t seem to have received this (really very simple!) message is because the AI companies have a vested interest in us not understanding it. “ChatGPT is smart, it just makes mistakes sometimes” is much more marketable than the truth.

Happy Juneteenth, everybody.
