An old X post from the new Pope is making the rounds:

Crockett debuts a new game called "Trump or trans," then displays a gigantic placard of Trump golfing

Please enjoy my cartoon for Wednesday's Toronto Star

Texas conservatives who've championed book bans & anti-LGBT policies suffered big losses tonight in school board races. And They seem to have lost their working majorities to pass their policies in big school boards. I tracked these results in FOUR boards tonight. So a 🧵 on each ICYMI.

Trump on China: "They made a trillion dollars with Biden selling us stuff. Much of it we don't need. Somebody said, 'oh, the shelves are gonna be open.' Well, maybe the children will have two dolls instead of 30 dolls, and maybe the two dolls will cost a couple of bucks more."

let us not lose sight of the fact that, having just become the first American president to lose a Canadian election, Donald Trump has a good chance on Saturday to become the first American president to lose an Australian election

MORAN: Even some people who voted for you are saying, 'I didn't sign up for this.' So how do you answer those concerns? TRUMP: Well, they did sign up for it actually

Canada as you vote, here is a reminder of who the Trump, Musk, Netanyahu and Modi ally Pierre Poilievre really is. #cdnpoli

I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return.

The vet said 〝He's not overweight at all, but he has a round and big head.‘’

If they’re arguing that Harvard hasn’t done enough “in the public interest” to deserve tax exempt status, wait until they get a look at evangelical megachurches!

Trump’s sputtering response to Harvard standing up to him is yet another reason why institutions should refuse to bend the knee. He’s a paper tiger, unable to argue his own case.

“Musk has said he is concerned about what he called Third World countries having higher birthrates than the U.S. and Europe, a person familiar with the conversation said.”

A coalition of Jewish groups warns that the Trump administration stripping international students of visas under the guise of fighting antisemitism actually makes Jews less safe and undermines the rule of law.

People: “The Republican congresswoman bought tens of thousands of dollars in stock from various high-profile companies just before President Donald Trump announced a 90-day pause on his international tariffs and sent the market soaring.” people.com/marjorie-tay...

4Chan was hacked, its source code was leaked, admin emails were leaked, AND a lot of registered users used their real names and .edu email addresses. Lotta CHUDs getting exposed to sunlight today.

the core of tech bro fascism is a bunch of dudes who simultaneously hate artists and the creative process more than anything and lack the ability to interpret reality outside of what they've been taught by movies and TV

Remember this is in spite of BOTH major political parties and major news outlets attempting to manufacture an electorate entirely in support of Israel. It is possible to reach people and change minds.

Newsletter: OpenAI is a systemic risk to the tech industry, requiring more money than exists every year, threatening the financial health of SoftBank, Oracle and NVIDIA, their future dependent on impossible debt and unproven startups to build their data centers. www.wheresyoured.at/openai-is-a-...

i plan to talk about the film Happy Gilmore the same way my grandpa talked about hearing FDR on the radio

there are actual mildly annoying things that were pushed by liberal and progressive scolds and it's very funny that this guy can't even think of one of them and has to invent a situation no real person encountered

Devastating story on McDonald's lackluster attempts to combat rampant sexual harassment at its stores.

the bleak thing is, the deportation and elimination of due process was a thing that trump promised, and people reported on. 1

I have complained about both of my alma maters frequently so I want to share praise where praise is due. I'm proud of Harvard for finding their backbone. It's a big deal because everyone else looks to them. And godspeed to them in fighting this shakedown bullshit from the Trump administration.

First they came for the innocent man deported to a Salvadoran gulag on an “administrative error” they falsely claim they’re powerless to reverse, flouting court orders even from the Supreme Court — and I spoke out, because I know how the damn poem ends.

Texas has been undermining public health and vaccine funding for years. That’s a major reason measles blew up there. “We haven’t had a strong immunization program that can really do a lot of boots-on-the-ground work for years”, according to a health department official. Link below.

Something I've always heard from Harvard grads: Why should I give them any money, they have billions, what diff would it make? Could do more good elsewhere etc Something I heard starting this afternoon: This is a moment to support them, they're doing the right thing, it could make a diff now etc

One thing I wish people understood about authoritarianism is life often looks more or less the same. Troops aren’t marching down the street every day; people go to restaurants, have their office jobs. But everyone knows that stepping out of line, even slightly, can derail your life with no recourse

Harvard has set an example for other higher-ed institutions - rejecting an unlawful and ham-handed attempt to stifle academic freedom, while taking steps to make sure students can benefit from an environment of intellectual inquiry, rigorous debate and mutual respect. Let’s hope others follow suit.

If you think the Abolish ICE folks turned out to be right, boy have I got news for you about prison abolitionists.

Is inflation up because of tariffs? Or is it because of DEI?

Donald Trump is mentally ill and must be appointed a conservator and put away for his own good. Oh, excuse me. I mean OUR own good. He cannot remain in office. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/14/b...

If the U.S. government is going to take the position that, once removed from the United States, folks can’t be brought back, then it sure seems to me that federal courts should be reflexively and categorically barring *all* removals until they’re 100 percent certain that the removals are lawful.

The idea that Bluesky brooks no dissent is not so much a red flag as a foghorn call that someone is at best a whiny child and at worst a poorly-disguised chud

Everyone in the world can see and describe exactly what's happening EXCEPT the people in the place it's happening and the press corps that's supposed to be explaining it to them.

Yall are burning down the planet and sending white tech bros pictures of the inside of your house to ask ChatGPT to turn your cat into a human.

I really appreciate Dave's sentiment here, genuinely and honestly, but I have to say this is, to me, by far one of the *most* American things I have heard my entire life

Let me tell you what I KNOW about men who hate independent women: they have nothing to offer outside of $ and material shit and some meh-dick. A woman who can provide for herself usually wants shit men who are spiritually emotionally and mentally void CANT provide n it pisses them OFF

Make no mistake. They would have impounded this money no matter what Harvard did. But by refusing to simply roll over and give in, Harvard still has levers to pull. And it’s won goodwill and support that puts it in an even stronger position.
