Hi everyone I was denied entry, detained, and deported from the USA over the last 48 hours because of my reporting on the Columbia student protests I arrived back in Melbourne hours ago and had my phone handed back to me upon landing

I'm sorry but the largest protest of my lifetime is not the 7th or 8th biggest news story in the country behind "what does Gen Z want from Instagram?" This shit is humiliating. Rearrange your layout to meet this moment. Omitting the thing happening in every American city is malpractice.

Germs don’t care about your feelings

Never noticed the statue of Neurathian Naturalism triumphing over metaphysics at the Kaiserhof before.

Guy just did for parades what he did for steaks, airlines, and casinos.

For comparison for those who don’t live in DC: Trump’s Parade vs. The Washington Nationals World Series Parade on the same street

I love that a politician can say something like “I believe mice naturally spawn out of grain” and the news will now just treat that as a legitimate line of thought

Wow

I am devastated by the loss of Minnesota State Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, in a horrifying act of violence. Our prayers are with their children and all who loved them, and with State Senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, who were also targeted.

Pride Day in Vienna is great. A very welcome relief from the endless horrible news out of the usa

Gov. Tim Walz says Democratic Rep. Melissa Hortman and her husband were shot and killed last night in “a political assassination.”

#NoKings day is dawning in the USA now. Good luck, everyone, at the protests.

And the rest of us feel 110.

What happened yesterday was part of a much bigger effort to try and silence anyone who dares to question what the Trump administration is doing.  But we will not be intimidated and we will not be deterred. We must hold this administration accountable.

The head of the department of homeland security announced that she planned to use military force to take over a democratically elected government in the state of California and we are arguing about whether a California Senator properly identified himself at the door.

The derangement of right wing politics in America is incredible

With due respect to Governor Newsom, when the holder of the office does not revere the office of the Presidency, it is time to stop protecting that office and thereby protector its holder.

When you talk about “liberating” a city or a state from its democratically-elected government, you are very clearly adopting authoritarianism.

The Vienna Circle Institute has done such enormously important work. It feels especially important in this age of Enstupidment

Hanging with the lads this morning.

More Americans voted for Senator Alex Padilla than for 48 of the 53 red state GOP U.S. Senators combined.

im so old i remember when texas conservatives said clinton and obama were gonna use the military to suppress their free speech

It's like they are engineering a disastrous pandemic at this point

Fulbright Board Resigns Over Political Interference www.insidehighered.com/news/governm...

#ResignationInProtest, Naval Academy edition Professor “resigned as the History Department chair, although he remains a faculty member.” He “said that rescinding the paper for reasons other than scholarly merit is incompatible with the academy’s values.”

What a deeply screwed up country

California Nat'l Guard troops & marines deployed to LA after days of protest against the Trump administration are telling friends & family members they are deeply unhappy about the assignment. They worry their only meaningful role will be as pawns in a political battle they do not want to join.

NEW: The Trump administration cut research funding that sought cures for future pandemics, examined the causes of dementia and tried to prevent HIV transmission. ProPublica heard from more than 150 researchers to understand the work that’s been lost.

Everyone I knew who covered disinformation got laid off, their bosses got bullied into firing them, or they changed their beats from actual Nazi harassment campaigns. It cannot be stressed the damage the paid-for Substack “free speech” guys did in the service of fascism and against real free speech.

Genetic material shed by tumors can be detected in the bloodstream three years before cancer diagnosis, according to a study led by investigators at Johns Hopkins University. That study was made possible with federal funding. Now, many studies like this are canceled. hub.jhu.edu/2025/06/04/...
