Today was mostly stuck in bed (stupid chronic illness) but did make a little progress on the new bejewelled hare, so that will have to count as productivity.

New on the easel, matching up this planned painting with something appropriately grand from my frame hoard. Hare sketched in, developing the background colour.

The Treasure Hunter. Acrylic, 30x40 cm. An older painting getting some adjustments before the show in June.

ME/CFS is a strange thing. If you try to fight it, the chains get tighter. With every step, your reach shrinks. The more you move, the smaller your world becomes. Posted for @openmedf.bsky.social's #MECFSis campaign. #MECFS #MEAwarenessMonth #WorldMEDay

The band is playing but the cat is sleeping through it…

The Astronomers, acrylic, 40x40 cm. For me, this is a BIG painting.

For those that need a wee break from news, here's a little stop-motion animated film about making, knitting as a means of coping through stress and grief. It's short- about 9 minutes; worth it. The voices are wonderful. #uplift #craftsky #knitsky #visiblemending vimeo.com/827066711

Reasons not to place a Tillinghast camera trap under your bed. You don’t want to know. Seriously. #whistpr #tentacle

The stone lady at our doorstep always looks a bit exposed this time of year with the dead grasses cleared away and the fresh just starting to grow in.

Coffee in the garden, some resting, some painting, some more resting…. Warm sunny day, but put the heating pad on for the old cat anyway to his approval.

Cloudy sunset

Happy Saturday! This painting from my unfinished pile is one of my projects for the weekend, along with resting in a sunbeam. The Astronomers, acrylic, 40x40cm panel with integral frame.

Spotted in a shady part of the garden at lunchtime.

And here’s Mr Socks telling me it’s bedtime by silently entering the studio and falling asleep beside my chair. He really is a weirdly polite old cat.

Flypast of Europa. Current WIP on the easel. I suspect the stars need to be toned down a bit, but am provisionally content with the paper airplane and the ice moon.

Everyone in the past was neurotypical, which is how we got things like this single-author, eight-volume encyclopedia of ferns

Dozed off to this already for my afternoon nap. Highly recommended.

Truth. Walking sticks are also ideal for dislodging cat toys from under the sofa…

Just passing along some friendly advice on how to approach potential changes to the Australian health care system @drruthmitchell.bsky.social

After every art show I sort my paintings into three categories: 1: keep and show again 2: rethink and rework 3: start over. This little painting went into pile 3, and the panel is now ready to be gessoed again.

Sunbeam Sunday!

When the squirrel figures out the new bird feeder…✨

Current WIP. Acrylic, 20x25 cm.

Today in “does what it says on the tin”. Spotted outside my local pharmacy.

First coffee in the garden this year! Seagulls crying overhead and a squabble of house sparrows in a clump of leafless vines. Green shoots of chives, daffodils, and Solomon’s Seal. Trilliums starting to bloom.

It truly was a local wonder. Reminiscent of some of some of Chris Burden’s more alarming art installations.

Makes me think of @celestineandthehare.com and their Dance Like a Weasel Day!

This is such a beautiful piece of writing. I want to quote so many of the bits that I think you should just take a couple of minutes to read it all. From Ukraine to Canada, on the occasion of our election. viktorkravchuk.substack.com/p/the-nation...

Grisaille for a current wip coming along nicely. Only 9x25 cm, but I’ll take that on a day that included a migraine and a major storm.

If you see this, post a robot.
