East Anglian chums - I'm at Saffron Hall at the end of the month! www.saffronhall.com/whats-on/vie...

His Napoleonic spin in THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS (1987) was a prescient swipe at Oliver North & Reagan. Jack Wade in GOLDENEYE & TOMORROW NEVER DIES put the spirit of Leiter into the Brosnan era. Rest in peace, Joe Don Baker. #JoeDonBaker #RIPJoeDonBaker #TheLivingDaylights #GoldenEye #TomorrowNeverDies

Here's an example of what an incredible human being he was.

To all the magnificent NHS & care staff from other countries with whom I work - please know how very much we value your skills, your decency, your humanity, your dedication. Care is the glue of society. We are so very lucky to have you. Ignore this Reform-lite posturing.

Happy Mother’s Day to the moms who stop us from eating worms, survive our chaos, tuck us in (even with a tiger), and accept cards that are just excuses to ask for more allowance. Thanks for doing it all—with sarcasm, snacks, and superpowers. #CalvinandHobbes #MothersDay

Today's performative clampdown on migrants will gut our care homes of desperately needed staff. We are *already* short of over 150k carers. Banning foreign care workers will only exacerbate this - increasing suffering of society's most vulnerable members & pressures on the NHS. It's madness.

The step-up in anti-migrant rhetoric from the government is shameful and dangerous. Migrants are our neighbours, friends and family. To suggest that Britain risks becoming “an island of strangers” because of immigration mimics the scaremongering of the far-right.

Starmer's anti-immigrant speech today wasn't just a moral and political embarrassment. It was also an intellectual embarrassment. inews.co.uk/opinion/star...

“Despite all of these arrivals there are still 131,000 vacancies in care. The sector say there is no way they can fill these jobs with British workers” The care sector is already on its knees and the government knows it

Professor Martin Green, of Care England, said: "This is a crushing blow to an already fragile sector. The government is kicking us while we're already down” news.sky.com/story/labour...

BREAKING: “We will be closing the care worker visa for overseas recruitment” - Home Secretary Yvette Cooper Don’t we have a desperate shortage of care workers?

Wanna see something cool? At the Grammy's in 1976, Ella Fitzgerald and Mel Torme explained what jazz is. The result? The crowd losing its mind. 🔥

Please please please. If you want print magazines to keep going, don't post photographs/scans of their articles online. It's really soul-destroying, even when done with good intentions. Thank you.

A SHORT POEM FOR STAR WARS DAY Her name was Yoda, A showgirl she was.

There was a rather charming trend in the 1910s to introduce the actor at the beginning of the film by showing them first in their street or evening clothes and then dissolving into the costume of their characters. Here we see recent stage import William S. Hart become a bandit in THE BARGAIN (1914).

TRAINSPOTTING was released 29 years ago today. Acclaimed as one of the great British movies and a generation-defining piece of pop culture, the behind the scenes story is as lacking in moral fibre as you’d probably expect… 1/44

There's a bit at the end of this survey we're running where you can just send us a message. Just to say thank you for some of the kind messages you've sent. Lump in throat.
