Toronto doesn't muck about when the sun comes out. We roll to the occasion.

As part of my quarterly existential crisis, I got hung up on my bad habits that could also be considered good habits. This is one of the takeaways from my notes.

Chaperoning my twins' SK class on a field trip today. 10 mins into the bus ride and the carsick cascades have begun. I have under-caffeinated for these circumstances.

Taylor Creek ravine in East York, Toronto. Never take these spaces for granted. They are a joy to young kids growing up in the concrete jungle.

Lady on the subway who seems to be going through her whole contact list, calling them in sequence, bellowing "HEY SORRY CAN'T HEAR YOU I AM ON THE SUBWAY, WILL CALL YOU LATER". I think the people around her would prefer it if she obnoxiously chatted them up instead.

Excited for the Last Podcast on the Left show tonight in Toronto. Kinda hope the guys don't lean too heavily on the US-CAN beef. Not sure they're fully aware of how genuine of a sore spot it is. (Henry Z is attracted to awkwardness, so my hope is somewhat forlorn.)

More so than the aggregated loss of knowledge that this will incur, I am struck by the solipsism of these moves. As an inoculation against religious self-centeredness, Hitchens once told a debate opponent, "the galaxies are not arranged with you in mind." Nationalism merits a narrowing, a slow wilt.

Canadians can be very cynical about our politics. There is, perhaps, cause for cynicism about the latest election. But it's also worth considering how it is being perceived abroad, and specifically how sister nations like Ukraine might be perceiving it. This one will tug at some heartstrings.

Have been a lifelong Morse fan but had never seen Lewis, so decided to give it a spin. Made mistake of looking up Laurence Fox. How can I unsee? I want Lewis but I don't want that chode in my eyeballs.

A humbling (and cute) moment this morning: hearing news that Pierre Poilievre had lost his seat, I laughed (for a long time). My son, 5y, asked why I was so amused. I gave some hints. He began crying, said it was mean to laugh at someone's misfortune, and asked how I would feel if it happened to me.

"The U.S. is the only place considered a 'safe third country' by Canada." Until 2025, that is. And now we are complicit in these detentions, by relying on this assumption.

Excellent reporting from Jorge Barrera. And we shall know them from the company they keep.

Downtown Toronto in a quietly cathartic mood this Good Friday. Busy busy. You get the feeling of retail therapy in the air.

"If I don't get some ham and chips into my stomach soon, I am going to die, like for real I am going to die" -- Son, 5, making genetic testing unnecessary

No context How I'm Doing, April 16. #nocontextfeeling

Even ChatGPT could not have concocted a more stereotypically Canadian bit of breaking news.
