May 24, 1990 -- Andy Lippincott dies of AIDS. It may not seem like much now; he was, after all, fictional. But at the time, for a lot of people AIDS was news reports of numbers and "those people". For a year Doonesbury had given readers an individual to care about, to recognize.

"Never more than twelve."

Girls are cute. Just, so fucking cute.

the democrats like putting ancient dying people in important jobs because 'our guy died' is a good excuse for doing nothing useful

URGENT: Please take a minute to comment on why Covid vaccines should continue to remain available for everyone under 65 years old. One day left to comment and you can do it anonymously www.regulations.gov/commenton/FD...

almost walked out of a career development seminar today b/c the presenter opened with a JKR quote stuck around, though, and confirmed just how little I have by way of a career trajectory

making plans for logging back in to Animal Crossing. Link has a house there, it wouldn't be right to leave it unfinished

Watched "Hackers" tonight. Really liked it. Unfortunately that's the deepest commentary you're getting out of me tonight

The afternoon he died, we inaugurated the Lincoln Memorial Walk, a walking tour of all the apartments we lived in with him in the city, in order. Like I said before, he's been a constant throughout our entire adult lives. There's a lot to remember

Sara and I have been reading "Questionable Content" since college. In #2854 (strip for Dec 12, 2014) @ass.golf had Emily pronounce Clinton's name in a way ("Clinnn-tonnn") that worked its way into our lexicon as a sing-songy "Lin-coln" for our boy www.questionablecontent.net/view.php?com...

A Link to the Past: from Nov 2007 check out that flip phone

We had Link longer than 19 years. 19 years! My entire adult life! Sara was in her first year of grad school when she adopted him; I was still a junior in undergrad She told me (paraphrasing), "I'm getting a cat, which means we're getting a cat." This was a year before we got engaged

Our last meditation together this morning. It was our daily tradition for the last 4 of his 19 years with us. He’d been with us through so much. Taught us so much. I experienced a lot of spiritual growth, sitting with him like this. I will miss him forever. My perfect precious boy. ♥️♥️♥️

my favorites, Sara and Link, in September 2007 💖

you're going to be hearing a lot about my best boy for a while

Threw away the paper towel I kept by my bed. Link was so good and smart; he had this distinctive yowl for if he had to throw up, and then we'd run to him with a paper towel to throw up in, and he'd do his best to hold it until we got there

Cutting up and throwing away his litter box has me strangely emotional just now Maybe because I made it for him Maybe because it's so large and cumbersome, a symbol of the weight of responsibility no longer on us as his cat parents Maybe just because it's the last immediate thing to be thrown out

My heart has joined the Thousand, for my friend stopped running today.

We adopted Link when he was four months old He is now 19 years and 6 months old For 19 years, we took care of him, and he took care of us

Maybe you've wondered why I've been posting so many photos of my cat the past several days Link's health has been failing I truly believe we've threaded the needle between giving him every last day and not making him suffer Today, we're saying our last goodbyes Please keep him in your thoughts 💖

I held Link tonight, and I could feel how much weight he's lost… he was a lean 14-15 pounds in his prime, now he's down to 8 and change
