So after a few days with the switch 2, here's my thoughts so far actually owning it I did try it at the switch 2 experience and it was a great time demoing the new console and games But now finally owning it it's just such a comforting feeling being ready for a new generation of Nintendo games

My takeaways from this year's @localfirstconf.com Last year we collectively were at the stage of “hey this syncing tech is cool, you don’t need the cloud as much” and “hey, we have a community here, who knew?” This year it felt like the community had more cohesion and sense of identity.

The Flanderization of ghibli in the public mind is just so insane to me. Acting like it’s entirely wholesome and cutesy but is really overtly anti capitalist, depict the horrors of war and environmental decline, and have TONS of body horror and depictions of death and disease. it legit annoys me

You know, it occurs to me now, that the argument about "STEM folks needing humanities" sucks in framing. I don't think it's reasonable to assume that existing humanities frameworks are anywhere near adequate for the problems we're actually facing. Would they be a good start? I'm not even sure.

I'm experimenting with a way to show how DOS games render themselves. Basically I'm recording a lossless video of the game running on a very slow (virtual) CPU, then removing all the frames where nothing happens, and I'm playing it back sped up a lot.

I guess it should come as no surprise that a service doing Twitter cosplay will start making the same mistakes as Twitter. It should always 1) recognise a world beyond the USA exists, and 2) not force anything on users by ensuring there are ways to permanently turn something off.
