"Biden was old but governed normally. Trump governs erratically *because* he’s unglued. That’s the true cover-up, one the media is enabling when they seem more concerned with the mental condition of a former president than the escalating madness of the current one."

Actually- if I can suggest a tweak to this. Introducing a bill is fine but someone needs to grow pair and offer this as amendment to upcoming spending bills

So in addition to being assassinated by the KKK, Pete Hegseth thinks this service doesn't deserve recognition. (Cribbed from Wikipedia but a decent enough summation)

While in principle we need a federal entity tasked to remove criminals unlawfully residing here, ICE as presently constituted is just a criminal gang. Best to burn it down and start over.

Let's be clear that every person named is an American hero, wo fought to make *all* our lives better. On the other hand, the Sec. of Defense is a drunken louche whose only claim to fame is being a Fox News host (and a middling one to boot)! I know what side I'm on.

"The official also said that the timing of the announcement -- occurring during Pride month -- was intentional." I've seen enough. We can confidently declare the Trump administration to be the biggest collection of assholes in American history.

my takeaway from this feature is that in a functioning political system there would be televised congressional hearings over the fact that one of the most influential people in the white house is a total maniac www.newyorker.com/magazine/202...

From the New York Times, a 5 part podcast ignoring their own role in fomenting a moral panic targeting trans youth.

My take on Elon Musk and his plan to leave government. www.economist.com/united-state... With a mini scoop at the end - the workers going back into the United States Institute of Peace offices found a whole bunch of weed apparently thrown away by the DOGE staffers who had been hanging out there

Jonathan Joss--voice actor of John Redcorn from King of the Hill, and Ken Hotate from Parks and Rec--was killed in a homophobic hate crime today. I'm so angry.

The fake ads are the best part of @theonion.com's print edition

I know a lot of your are mourning the end of this but my one experience w/this guy was watching him bully a young reporter on Twitter over a story he didn't like & said was erroneous. When I said his vitriol was a lot & the reporter was new he was nasty to me. Never forgot his rudeness.

The DNC needs to come up with a script for Dem reps/candidates to use and help them collect these stories. Local suffering + happening nationally + Trump's fault = Need Dem Congress.

New in tonight’s @semafor media newsletter: Last year, a Business Insider editor recommended that staff check out a list of business books/memoirs that could inform their reporting. Several did not exist, and appear to have been generated by AI. www.semafor.com/article/06/0...

Ah yes, remind which is the pro-life party here?

Democrats’ message should surely be: What Sen. Ernst really means here is that the donors, lobbyists, and elites Sen. Ernst now hangs around with don’t much care about some less well-off people dying.

Loretta Swit, who was fab as Margaret Houlihan, isn't in this piece but if you feel like going down a M*A*S*H memory hole, this piece, one of the favorites I've ever written, captures the spirit of the show, I think theankler.com/p/secret-his...

Whether Elon Musk is serious about leaving whatever the fuck he was doing, everyone should remember that in the early stages of DOGE, he and his teenage accomplices ransacked, copied, and absconded with almost every US citizen’s most private information. The largest crime spree in history.

Homicide rates: NY 4.5, FL 7.2 Life expectancy: NY 79, FL 76.1 Uninsured rate: NY 4.8, FL 10.7

Musk successfully ruined the government and the project continues without him. What are all these wistful “A Heroic CEO in Repose Learns You Can’t Fight City Hall” headlines even talking about

Am I the only one who thinks "Emil Bove" sounds like some mid-level SS functionary who enjoyed the killing just a little too much like Sean Penn's character in Taps?

Evidently it takes five (shitty) New York Times reporters to suck up this much to Elon Musk and still not provide real context or insight.

Tramell Tillman stole a chunk of a Tom Cruise movie right out from under Tom Cruise if that's not a star, i don't know what is wrote about it briancgrubb.substack.com/p/tramell-ti...

The Media: Tired: Competent, disciplined, succesful presidency is a scandal b/c talking about competence is boring Wired: Crazy man wrecking havoc is awesome b/c he talks crazy all the time and it's fun to retype crazy talk

Oh the story I could tell if I were allowed

I've always thought paying former politicians for their time would "kill" the lobbying industry. They do this stuff as a public service, right?

Thinking of every academic who has had to apply for grants to cover the cost of requesting and licensing images for their books with zero assistance from a publisher

On the one hand, an industry that makes billions of dollars, provides thousands of good jobs, and produces immense cultural capital. On the other hand, an industry with a barely-functional product that has yet to turn a profit. Only someone bought and paid for would see this as a tough call.

Beautiful & heartbreaking story that shows the worst of Trump and the best of America.

Hmm, anyone want to guess how Donald Trump handled his appearance at West Point?

Trump left West Point after his speech instead of staying to shake the hand of every graduating cadet, as is longstanding tradition. If Obama or Biden had done that, we would never the hear the end of it. But it's Trump, so reporters don't care.

BREAKING: ICE deported a Burmese man who doesn’t speak English to South Sudan—a country he’s not from and on the brink of civil war. He refused to sign English-only papers. They deported him anyway—with 11 others. No hearings. No translators. Court order ignored. This is state-sponsored kidnapping.

ZELDIN: I understand you're an aspiring fiction writer. I see why. SCHIFF: I understand your view that you can cut half of the agency and it won't affect people's health or their water or their air. That to me is a big fiction ... you could give a rat's ass about how much cancer your agency causes

A perfect snapshot of how the Washington media fails its readers and why it has lost the trust of so many: Extreme gullibility and elevating the peripheral in its obsession on the horse race

Gabbard’s top aide, ordering changes to an intel assessment that debunked one of Trump’s lies: “We need to do some rewriting … so this document is not used against the DNI or POTUS.” Politicizing intelligence is just another one of the many corrupt acts Trump falsely alleged and is now committing.
