Recommendations for cute ass comics about magic and love and being gay and shit

The Batter

Maybe the real mediocre cartoonists are the friends we made along the way

I am proud of my CALARTS STYLE 😤

A dearth of good art? I discovered hundreds of examples of fantastic art at my small city’s indie comics expo walking around for like 30 minutes. I can’t imagine thinking there’s a dearth of good art within the entire industry, let alone thinking your definition of good counts for us all.

"There's no good art anymore" is such an upside down looney tunes ass opinion when we're surrounded by people making amazing shit all the time on here. There's no good art? Get better at searching. Good lord.

I started playing DnD for the first time a few months ago and it has become sacred to me. Here’s a rough sketch of our group!

You don’t have to love a game to be excited that someone else does. Their joy doesn’t need to match your taste to be real or valid. Watching someone light up over a game you don’t connect with? That’s still something worth celebrating💙💙

I sewed a little guy to get through a bad day yesterday. I’m not good at sewing but I do love making things.

Hate when I see people discuss “AI Ethics.” It’s all bad. Next question.

I saw alex Graham's nasty little comic strip and felt compelled to make a comic of my own really fast. Check it out. www.instagram.com/p/DJ4yM8sTV6...

Whenever someone derisively refers to a stylistic approach as “cal arts” they automatically lose all of my respect.

cartoonist pep talk

LOL at anyone in comics thinking they have a ReSpOnSiBiLiTy to call out "bad comics," my good bitches: we are in comics, where probably 85% of us need a second or third job to get by, where many still have to be their own PR even when they get a deal; not one fuck is needed, not one should be given.

Inventing a new son. He looks like a “Milton” to me.

I like taking my comics out for walks.

10 days left and we’re already doing so well, thank you everyone 😭

The first handful of pages from my Encyclopedia of Monsters project for my residency which features artwork from the community, my own art, some of my sketches and creative processes, journal entries, and bits of ephemera that represent my own personal monsters.

Hey everyone! I've officially launched my store, with this as the first design! Please be sure to check it out, I've got a kid on the way and every little bit helps! toweronatower.printful.me

March and April so far have been wildly busy but I’ve been doing some really fulfilling things!

PRT needs more state funding to maintain and improve service. As more details are being announced this morning about the potential for cuts if state funding does not increase, it’s my commitment to continue to fight for the funding necessary to protect our transit system.

Unfortunately I forget how to draw

Coming soon- Wing and Claw Courier a collaborative quarterly newspaper by monsters, for monsters, reporting goings-on in the monster realms! Finally available to human audiences courtesy of Biolumen Press ! 🐉🎊 . . #monster #art #illustration #monsternewspaper #wingandclawcourier

I spend a lot of my life trying to fill holes - holes left by video games or books or series after I finish them, holes left by old friends, holes left by lost time. Some holes, I don’t know the shape of. I was lucky to find that DnD absolutely fills one of them. It’s such a fulfilling thing for me.

I’ll be here! Yay!!

Shout out to Angela Oddling @angelaoddling.bsky.social for making this gorgeous poster for PIE2025! Pittsburgh Indie Expo (PIE) 2025 will be on March 30, 11am - 5pm at the Heinz History Center. It's free, tasty, and full of amazing creators from the Pittsburgh region and beyond! 🥧

Super stoked that I got to create the poster for Pittsburgh Indie Expo 2025!!!

Sketching before bed

I played DnD for the first time over the weekend and it was my favorite thing in the world.
