#DepartmentQ is now No.1 in UK and No.2 globally on Netflix. FirstStage, co-founded by Bob Last and Jason Connery, has become a cornerstone of Scotland’s screen infrastructure. Delighted that success has, in part, been possible with Scot Gov funding. www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/news/opinion...

Labour must use Wednesday’s Spending Review to deliver the funding and flexibility Scotland needs – not double down on the failed cuts that brought us here in the first place. Details in Edinburgh Evening News. www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/news/opinion...

Tomorrow, voters in Hamilton, Larkhall and Stonehouse will have first say on the choice that all of us in Scotland will face next year: #VoteSNP to stop the party of Nigel Farage. Let’s not give the far-right a foothold. Vote SNP to keep The Scottish Parliament Farage-free.

🎪Congrats to organisers of the Meadows Festival: this weekend’s event celebrates its 50th year. I encourage all to go along to see live music stages, a community zone showcasing Edinburgh-based charities and groups, and over 100 market stalls. www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/news/opinion...

🗳️With Labour and Tory defections to Nigel Farage’s party, and their no-show at the TV debate, the choice for this week’s by-election is clear: 🎗️Vote SNP to keep the Scottish Parliament Farage-free. www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/news/opinion...

This is the latest defector to Farage - a Scottish Labour councillor! Vote Labour - get Farage. Neither Labour or the Tories are standing up effectively against Farage, so it's more important than ever to vote for @theSNP. #VoteSNP

Thanks to everyone involved with Pulse of the Place, a vibrant youth samba band, with talented participants from across Edinburgh and the Lothians. Great to learn about the project, hear a performance and thanks for giving me a shot.🥁

Let’s build a Scotland that’s united, that aspires to be better, that rejects hate. Farage doesn’t have a clue about Scotland - and Labour is too weak to stop him. In the by-election next Thursday, only @katyloudonsnp.bsky.social and the SNP can stop Farage. Vote for hope. #VoteSNP

TV Tip: Check out new @Netflix series ‘Dept. Q’, filmed and set in the Scottish capital Edinburgh. Produced with support of Screen Scotland. #TartanNoir

Welcome new agreement strengthening business links between Scotland and Ukraine and support the recovery and reconstruction of Ukraine. Honour to sign memorandum of understanding between Scottish and Ukrainian Governments. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🤝🇺🇦

Nigel Farage has today posted another video trying to inject his racist poison into Scotland. He is out of step with the values of our country and we must unite together to stop him.

Grateful for @ScreenScots and industry partners who have worked hard to persuade the BBC of the merits of greater local investment. BBC say productions will need 70% of production budget locally and/or draw significantly on local programme-makers & crew to produce the show.

Front Pages: ‘Poison’ - Nigel Farage slammed for defending ‘racist’ campaign ad in Scotland. Today’s Daily Record:

🎭 Hugely looking forward to another festival season. As MSP for Edinburgh Central & Cabinet Secretary for Culture, I’m proud to see and support the extraordinary creativity they bring to our streets, stages, schools and all other venues.

⚽️ Congratulations to all of those who have been celebrating Scottish sporting success, whether at home or abroad, as well as all of those from other countries who play such a positive part in our national game across all clubs.

Welcome rethink about BBC commissioning after concerns and criticism. Change in approach will hopefully influence other public service broadcasters, as well as OFCOM, and help Scottish screen sector grow to £1bn annual industry. 📺🎥🎬🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/news/opinion...

🏘️Grateful to constituents who have filled out my housing survey - over 750 of you have provided huge insight into all aspects of home, community, local issues, access, traffic, tourism & more. 📲Appreciate more responses from those who rent property: angusrobertson.scot/survey-housi...

Edinburgh Council’s handling of EIJB funding has been unacceptable. While emergency funds are welcome, they do not provide needed long-term security for vital organisations that support the most vulnerable in the city.

📋I have had over 750 responses to my digital survey on all issues related to housing. Thanks to all that have taken part. All constituents are welcome to take part.

Improving relations with the European Union is a good thing - but doing so by undermining the fisheries sector is not. There is no decent substitute for being an independent member state of the EU.

NEW: SNP ministers have hit out after being left in the dark about the new UK-EU deal – despite asking for draft proposals 🗣️'Scotland isn’t even an afterthought' Read the full story: www.thenational.scot/news/2517287...

UK Govt has agreed a fisheries (devolved) deal with EU in principle, without any recourse, involvement or approval of Devolved Administrations. Scottish Government received no documentation or draft proposals in advance. I asked UK minister last week for this. Nothing received. Reset?

Keir Starmer engaged in ugly, damaging, & disgraceful rhetoric no different to that spouted by Nigel Farage. To be clear to refugees & migrants in Scotland: You are welcome here. Your contributions to our communities, NHS, care homes, & businesses are hugely valued.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇪🇺The EU’s values of human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, rule of law and respect for human rights are the values of Scotland. The best future for Scotland is rejecting the folly of Brexit and rejoining the European Union as a member state.

The top-class journalism Kirsty Wark has produced over some years (and the forensic political questioning many of us have experienced), make her a worthy winner of a BAFTA fellowship. Chapeau to Alan Cumming for his stellar hosting, too. 2 Scots at the top of their game.

Scot Gov’s Meeting Scotland’s Migration Needs strategy points out that maintaining even modest economic growth requires net migration of around 25,000 a year—levels that Westminster’s new cap will make impossible. It seems now Starmer is interested in grievance - not growth.

Extremely moving debate in the Scottish Parliament with powerful speeches for and against assisted dying legislation. The bill passed at stage one by 70 votes to 56, with one abstention. I voted in favour.

Host Alan Cumming and lifetime achievement award winner Kirsty Wark were highlights of this week’s #Baftas - as always both are fantastic examples of top-tier Scottish talent. www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/news/opinion...
