1/3 🚨 The Dept. of Energy is quietly trying to gut building accessibility rules under Section 504. This rollback would erase protections disabled activists fought decades to win. 🛑 Drop a public comment by June 16 to help stop it: 👉 dredf.org/action-alert... (Mini history lesson below ⬇️)

✨ COME TO OUR PRIDE PARTY THIS THURSDAY AT NOBODY'S DARLING!!! ✨ The right wants to erase queer people but we're not going anywhere. That's why we're partnering with queer-owned businesses in the 9th District to make this a bash for EVERYONE. Find more details here: www.mobilize.us/katforillino...

In two weeks, we're delivering our petition to the relevant Ministers. Help maximize our impact: sign the petition calling for accessible pathways to asylum in Canada for 2SLGBTQIA+ refugees, including from the US, and share widely: www.momentumcanada.net/pathways

Properly fitted #N95 #masks can filter out most PM2.5 particles, the ones most commonly linked to health effects. You will still smell #smoke since N95's can't stop gases which cause irritation. P100 for more severe situations. #wildfires healthybuildings.hsph.harvard.edu/wildfireresp....

Fuck Kieran Moore and his absolute incompetence. That we don't have robust vaccination, don't bother cleaning the air in public places, and won't even require masks in hospitals--including NICUs--is a complete moral failure. That poor family. news.ontario.ca/en/statement...

We were so close to eradicating HIV in our lifetimes. I will never get over the cruelty & hate.

Also (buzzkill post of the day) this is what you share responsibility for every single time you enter a public space unmasked.

Doctors fear ‘devastating consequences’ for pregnant people after RFK Jr. order on #COVID19 boosters. The U.S. health secretary decided to remove booster shots from the recommended immunization schedule, by @jessicaglenza.bsky.social www.theguardian.com/world/2025/m... via @theguardian.com

A newborn's immune system is not fully developed, so it's up to everyone around them to keep them safe from illnesses. #HealthCareNotCareless

ACOG is deeply disappointed by HHS’s move to drop COVID-19 vaccine recommendations in pregnancy. The science is clear: COVID-19 remains dangerous in pregnancy and vaccination protects both patients and newborns. The vaccine is safe and protects families. Read our full statement: buff.ly/OGue7sO

Canada: If you're watching in frustration as the legal system defends the worst kinds of men, the most tangible thing you can do right now is donate to your local sexual assault centre. Every single one of them has had demand for service skyrocket since this trial began but no funding increase.

I know y’all don’t care about this but there’s a pretty fast spreading Covid variant going around and there’s gonna be a summer surge whether you like it or not. You can, of course, avoid this by getting vaccinated and wearing a mask but you won’t do that.

Just got round to reading this and it's excellent. As a pwME it's thought-provoking to see pacing framed as a politically useful organising skill, because it's extremely hard work and something that takes me away from political organising a lot of the time. yaleglobalhealthreview.com/2025/05/18/a...

Our analysis of Toronto Public Health data shows that of the 20 public schools with the highest rate of measles vaccine exemption, 15 are Catholic schools. We've all seen the increase in hate, harassment and violence the last few years. Unfortunately, most of us don't feel equipped to step in and intervene. We're scared of being hurt or making it worse. Let me teach you effective intervention - for free! Register today : zoom.us/webinar/regi...

Feels like a good day to remind folks that just 28% of New York's MTA stops are accessible, despite the ADA making it a literal law 35 years ago. On the perfect day, when everything is working.

“To limit spread, [Ontario School Safety] is calling on the province and school boards to intensify vaccination efforts and to upgrade ventilation and air quality in schools and on school buses.“

This decision is antithetical to public health. COVID-19 in pregnancy, particularly in the third trimester, is extremely dangerous and aside from the elderly infants younger than 6 months have the highest risk of hospitalization from COVID. They are critically dependent on maternal antibodies.

This is a huge massive mistake. Almost two years ago I rounded up all the data we have - and we have A LOT - on why COVID-19 vaccination during pregnancy protects both the parent and the child. www.wsj.com/health/healt...

Trans people are such a threat to authoritarianism because we prove that so many of the rules are completely made up. There is no set way that you're supposed to live. If we can refuse to be assigned a gender we don't like, we can refuse other things that are "set in stone," too.

We are not powerless in the face of hate & harassment. We don't have to stand by & watch people get harmed. There are proven ways for every day people to safely intervene & de-escalate - even in public spaces where we're all strangers. Let me teach you. Register: zoom.us/webinar/regi...

"If Covid damaged our immune systems, we would be seeing record outbreaks of other diseases." That was the argument in 2022. Three years later, we're having the worst resurgence of flu, tuberculosis, measles, and whooping cough in generations.

"No risk to public safety" beyond the fact that intimate/family violence is one of the biggest public safety risks out there. Risk level incredibly and outrageously high. We need to do more about this.

Bruce Fanjoy spoke to @politico.com about his win: “If there was one surprise that I had in this campaign in Carleton, it’s that Pierre barely showed up. After all his time as MP, he took the riding for granted, and nobody likes to be taken for granted.” www.politico.com/news/magazin...

If you're protesting this May Day, know your rights.

Community care is possible. It does not mean we can always prevent harm but it does mean we can lessen its impact and make people feel supported and connected. I'm teaching a free de-escalation and bystander intervention webinar on May 28, if you want to join me : zoom.us/webinar/regi...

It was exciting to present my research project on developing Health-Inclusive Pedagogy at the University of Waterloo Teaching and Learning Conference this morning! I'm hoping to publish some of this work soon, and will try to get a recording up on my YouTube channel at some point. #UWTL2025

Just as the brief period of flu-like illness people had after contracting HIV was never the problem, the overwhelming issue* with Covid are the long-term harms to the body. Infection leads to vascular, neurological, and immune harm. It also increases your risk for cancer. polybio.org/polybio-supp...

One of my favorite things about Bluesky (or at least my little corner of it) is that people are always sharing resources for taking action. So here's a pinned thread collecting those resources, some made by me and some made by others.
