Badlands National Park is incredible for many reason but seeing this guy 10 fit from the car was pretty cool. (And I liked the safety of a car if he was this close!)

I like Rene Knott when he emcees events but the structure of his pieces on the news, choppy, with clauses said by one person, then clauses by another, drives me crazy. Not sure if he’s forced into that format or chooses it but it’s really not a good way to listen to a news piece.

Damn Missouri Supreme Court and US Supreme Court. Definitely not a win for Women or for Indigenous peoples.

A memorable Memorial Day…hiking and come round a bend to discover an elk 20 ft ahead, who is not happy to see us. We try to back away and go to the road to go around him but he charges us. Terrifying. Thank god there was a car coming along the road that pushed him back and let us get in and away.

Seemed like a good day to have been at a baseball game, but just saw the recap of the Cards game and there were so many empty seats.

Would be a good day if the #10 car wins the Indy 500 and the Cubs win. #ChipGanassiRacing #ChicagoCubs

Just sat in on a presentation from the Barbados Museum on the Indentured Irish. Fascinating in itself but equally fascinating to me was listening to all the dialects from the presenters and the audience. There had to have been at least 7-8 different dialects speaking.

I’ve been a VW person for almost 2 decades but these new The Californians commercials make me want to never drive a VW again.

Hmm, another day of testing the tornado sirens in the city of St Louis. They definitely work when someone hits the button!

If you think COVID vaccines should continue to be available to all: take 5 min and add your comments at the link below. (Advice for what to say in the linked thread.)

Spent the afternoon in one of the harder hit areas of St Louis doing clean up. Man, North St Louis was hit hard by this tornado. And cleaning up red bricks is heavy and dirty work w/o having to work around glass and shingles and broken fences and tree limbs. It’s gonna be a long cleanup here.

All we can hope for now is the pharma companies to develop a combined covid flu vaccine and the rest of us not in the ‘special’ group can be vaccinated. Unless of course the FDA now decides we don’t need flu shots either.

Nice that the STL Mayor is fixing ‘protocol’ but unless she hired ALL new people in the last month those people should have figured out how to push a button sometime in the last 4 years with all the tornados we have. No excuse for this and citing protocol fixes doesn’t cut it.

Some of these young local news reports need some training in how to deliver news. They sound very stilted.

Truly appreciate all the people in STL who worked through the night helping rescue people, shut off gas leaks, and restore power. Ameren quietly came through my darkened neighborhood at 3am looking for the cause of the outage. We had power back about 12 hours after the outage.

Glad for my camping lantern since it’s too early to sleep and five hours into no power.

Hope Crown Candy is undamaged from the tornado. #stlwx

Thankfully only 1 tree ruined in the storm that went through; and the tornado stayed about 2 miles north of me.

I know I shouldn’t make fun of this but isn’t entrapment what a child safety gate is all about?

Missouri. Every elected GOP official in this state should be voted out. They blatantly ignore the will of the people, who have voted and won. Fuck everyone one of them

What has the US gained/won in these tariff games? Did I miss that we now have lower prices for Americans, more jobs for Americans, a stronger standing in the global community?

Kind of an amazing moon tonight.

This is exciting….

Elsbeth is fun tonight.

I hope the current students at my Alma mater, John Felice Rome Center of Loyola Chicago, were able to be in Vatican square for this. What an exciting time to be a student in Rome.

La pace sia con voi!

Spelling bee making me shake my head again today for not including the plural of apparatus as a real word.

Hey I have an idea United Airlines…Maybe pick another less busy city to be a hub since Newark can’t seem to handle your business. I’m sure some secondary markets would love to have the business…

I just had a yellow rumped warbler land on my window sill and I am pretty confident its the first one I have seen in my yard in 20 years. Dashed off too quickly for me to get a picture though.

Not having much luck this year with American Airlines. And yet I keep booking on them. Only 1 leg of all the trips I’ve had this year has left on time. If only I lived in a city that had better flight options.

News just said POTUS will give a wide ranging speech tomorrow on his ‘accomplishments’. The better phrase is he will give a rambling incoherent speech about random things and mention Biden at least 25 times.
