Exactly what I voted for…

As well as the big three agreements with the EU, US and India, the UK has also entered into other agreements in the last couple of days, which will boost trade, cooperation and cultural & educational exchanges. It includes: 1) the Musubi Initiative with Japan: www.gov.uk/government/n... 1/4

Another day, another absurd and totally biased action by the BBC - this time a headline about NHS Wales waiting lists that doesn't match the facts gives the total opposite impression of reality. @mrjamesob.bsky.social can you please bring this up today & make people aware of these sorts of issues?

I've just come across the 'Missions' page on the government website. Looks like it was set up in December and contains 6 pages about the different parts of the Plan for Change. The really good thing is each page the contains links to the latest press releases and policy documents for that area.

The Labour government is updating standards for zoos and aquariums, for the first time in over a decade. The measure will include requirements for larger enclosures for elections, phasing out of long term tethering of birds of pray, and the ending of being able to touch fish and cephalopods.

South Western Railways has come under public ownership! The first train is leaving Waterloo about now, 6:14am! This is the first of many train operators to be brought under public ownership under legislation brought in last year. www.gov.uk/government/n...

The Labour government is investing a record £3bn in apprenticeships, in a sign they are working across departments with joined up thinking. The DfE plans will: - support the youth guarantee for 18-24 yr olds (DWP) - focus on shortage areas, where we see higher immigration (Home office) 1/2

Drax gets @£2m per day from our energy bills to burn trees. If approved by MPs, huge new subsidies will do nothing to reduce our bills or support energy security. Instead, it will lead to more forest destruction, harm wildlife, pollute communities with climatewrecking emissions - all at our expense!

Urgent. 2nd June 2025! Drax gets @£2m per day from UK energy bills to burn trees. If approved by 14 MPs huge NEW subsidies will do nothing to reduce UK bills or support energy security. But will further forest destruction, wildlife harms, pollute communities-while pumping climate wrecking emissions.

Here's @pippaheylings.bsky.social MP speaking out against bioenergy and Drax in parliament. #CutCarbonNotForests

The UK burns wood pellets in its power stations. Those wood pellets are made in mills in the southeast US. The mills are often in the heart of or right next to communities. They pollute people's air and contribute to health issues, and regularly breach environmental permits. #CutCarbonNotForests

Here's a US pellet mill that produces biomass, which is then sent to UK power stations. Isn't it incredible that cutting down forests, turning them into pellets, shipping them thousands of miles, and setting them on fire, is completely carbon neutral?! #CutCarbonNotForests

The car you drive years in the future might run off a battery being invented in a lab today. Companies in China and the United States are racing to perfect and scale up next-generation technologies.

The Reform Party wants to block wind & solar—the cheapest forms of energy. They want you to pay more for your electricity. Rural Britain deserves cheaper bills, clean energy, and local jobs. That’s real 'reform'. Prof Richard Murphy writes

✊Efforts agitating for a liveable planet are working✊ "A survey of CEOs at AEP member companies blamed Australia’s “well intentioned” environmental regulation, efforts to address climate change, and specifically singled out climate activism and litigation as a threat to continued investment." 🙌

Ridiculously important case - @parentsforclimate.bsky.social are taking one of Australia's worst polluters to court for claiming "carbon neutral" power supply Fundamentally, one of the worst lies of the fossil fuel industry in recent years, enabled by the for-profit carbon offsetting industry.

Maybe people are finally catching up.

This is big. An Australian energy company has been forced to admit that there is no substitutability between fossil fuel CO2 emissions (average life in the atmosphere of c1,000 years) and the projects/credits offered for carbon offsetting, largely shorter lived nature based avoidance/removal of CO2.

Incredible & important work by @parentsforclimate.bsky.social 🌏🎉 Congratulations to everyone involved 👏 "EnergyAustralia has publicly acknowledged that offsets do not undo the harms of burning fossil fuels and apologised to more than 400,000 customers of its ‘Go Neutral’ carbon offsetting product"

Here it is, finally. The truth. In a landmark #greenwashing legal case brought by @parentsforclimate.bsky.social, #EnergyAustralia has publicly acknowledged that offsets do not undo the harms of burning fossil fuels & apologised to more than 400,000 customers of its carbon #offsetting product

WE WON! The Supreme Court has upheld the right to wild camp on Dartmoor. This is a huge win for access to nature. But we're just getting started. It was never just about Dartmoor. We’re fighting to extend the right to roam, swim, and sleep under the stars - across all of England.

Why the UK's carbon capture plans—which centre around billions in subsidies for 𝗡𝗘𝗪 gas facilities—are deeply flawed, and appear to be more about providing ongoing revenue for the fossil fuel industry. #CCS #LNG #CarbonCaptureScam @profbobhowarth.bsky.social @drandrewboswell.bsky.social

📢 SCRAP CARBON CAPTURE (CCS) Hugely pleased to have the support of @adrianramsay.bsky.social who knows CCS is just more fossil fuel infrastructure Decarbonising: creating jobs in renewables, insulation, & nature restoration is the way Write to your MP now scrapcc.org/CCS-ACTION-BS1 (More below)

This is absolutely shocking news. Gas-linked Carbon Capture actually INCREASES emissions. Our government are either wilfully ignoring this and are set on destroying our planet for short-term gain, or have been taken in by the lies of the fossil fuel lobbyists. 😭 We need @zero-hour.bsky.social now.

Really important campaign to educate and inform MPs and the public why we absolutely cannot rely on Carbon Capture to mitigate against the devastating damage we’re doing to our planet. Please take 5 minutes to write to your MP now asking them to Scrap Carbon Capture: scrapcc.org/CCS-ACTION-BS1

Journalistic impartiality isn't about reporting events in a way that tries not to provoke a positive/negative reaction; it's about reporting accurately. In the Independent headline, "rambling" is arguably opinion, but the rest is straight and factual. The NYT headline simply flees from the truth.

Public pressure works! Keep it going.

Medicare for All isn't radical. What's radical is that we are the only major country not to guarantee health care as a human right. Don’t believe me? Listen to what these nurses have say:

What?!?! The EPA has drafted a plan to eliminate all pollution controls from coal and gas-fired power plants. The agency claims these plants “do not contribute significantly” to dangerous pollution or climate change, arguing their emissions are a small and declining share of global totals.
