In @nytopinion.nytimes.com “Across the world, we’ve seen democracy in retreat,” writes A.G. Sulzberger, the publisher of The New York Times. “This anti-press playbook is now being used here in this country — and it could not come at a more difficult time for the American press.”

A delightful Mother’s Day read from @hcrichardson.bsky.social open.substack.com/pub/heatherc...

Good Lord. 4th Cir. (Judge Wilkinson writing): "We yet cling to the hope that it is not naïve to believe our good brethren in the Executive Branch perceive the rule of law as vital to the American ethos." storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

"The court’s past failures have destroyed lives and put our Republic in mortal danger. Its past courage has inspired revolutionary change. Unless Trump backs down, the court will face the same choice it faced in 1954--yield in the face of enormous resistance or stand even when the politicians fail."

Impressive letter by Harvard’s President Garber - let’s hope other Universities find a similar level of courage @harvard.edu www.harvard.edu/president/ne...

Breaking News from @theathletic.bsky.social: After a tense playoff, Rory McIlroy won his first Masters to become just the sixth golfer to complete a career Grand Slam. www.nytimes.com/athletic/627...

Go Rory. Congrats. Well deserved. ⛳️

What do you think, @richarddeitsch.bsky.social and @gtconway.bsky.social? Should the World Cup and Summer Games be taken away and sent to...where? Some place more hospitable? What about Canada?? My column www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2025/...

I’d say this sums things up quite accurately

I’m a huge @guster.bsky.social fan and this piece is terrific www.theatlantic.com/culture/arch...

Judge’s order to reinstate AP in White House press pool shows the importance of fighting lawless orders. It’s not just the rights of one that are at stake, it’s the rights of all.

It’s the stupid, economy.

Important words from @marcelias.bsky.social and @democracydocket.com re @booker.senate.gov speech

This would be a good move - glad his hateful remarks are unwelcome @thewashingtonpost.bsky.social www.washingtonpost.com/education/20...

This quote from a UVA BOV member in today’s Daily Progress is hateful and embarrassing rhetoric - this is not my University

Hey. My piece for Mother Jones, in which I reveal how the evil Jeff Bezos inadvertently revived my career! Join me. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

“Here is the unavoidable truth: the Washington Post I joined, the one I came to love, is not the Washington Post I left.” @ruthmarcus.bsky.social writes about her decision to resign from the paper in the wake of editorial changes made by its owner, Jeff Bezos.

This week I left The Washington Post after 40 years, 6 months and 6 days. Today I have a piece in the New Yorker explaining my heart-breaking decision, and including the column that was spiked. I wish I never had to write it. www.newyorker.com/news/essay/w...

No, the meeting did not go badly for Ukraine. It exposed in the most undeniable, unequivocal way possible the pro-Putin commitments of the president and vice president. That was information Americans and allies needed to have clear before them.

It appears that another strong female has stood up for the truth and the right thing to do - go figure 💪
