Greg Jericho says Labor’s super tax reveals a system built for the rich – Full Story podcast www.theguardian.com/australia-ne...

I see @zoedaniel.bsky.social has finally conceded defeat in Goldstein but she will recontest at the next election - it is candidates and politicians like her that makes us better people and a better country.

As Martin Luther King Jr said: “In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.” I will never regret times I have spoken up. If you haven't already, please find your voice. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

How the fuck do we live in a country where Malcolm Turnbull’s Liberal-NATIONAL Party completely fucked up the NBN yet now that very same National Party are whining about a lack of internet connectivity in the bush? #NewsCorpse

Last week I was honoured to be part of a truly historic event. Clans of the Roper River convened to form a new governing entity for this magnificent waterway, under threat from fracking and industrial agriculture. You can read the full declaration here: territoryrivers.org.au/our-rivers/r...

The day author Ren Wyld was due to receive the Black & Write $15k Indigenous fellowship she was told it had been rescinded. A journo from the Oz seemed to know before she did. Appalling to see QLD govt cave to Murdoch press to punish a First Nations writer for speaking out in support of Palestine.

Overdue. But a start.

This is a huge test for the new Environment Minister www.abc.net.au/news/2025-05.... Approving (extending) this climate bomb would be a climate and environmental disaster.

Orchid you not: Australia is home to around 1900 species of wild orchids, and there are over 400 species in Victoria. This region is one of the richest in the world for its diversity of temperate terrestrial orchids.

The Australian National Maritime Museuwill mark Reconciliation Week with an installation highlighting what is now considered one of the first acts of reconciliation between Europeans and First Nations people.

The costs. Destroys our historic art. Will release over 4 billion tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere. Sells 90% of its gas overseas, driving up local power prices. Locks Aust into a destructive agreement for the next 50 years. #auspol nb.australiainstitute.org.au/save_the_roc...

Posting here because the other place is a toxic cesspit - and you don't have to donate! Just taking the time to engage with the Institute's work is more than enough and we are very grateful. If you do choose to donate - thank you sincerely. Take care of you x

How absurd are complaints against the super changes? Consider if someone's super goes up from $3m to $3,250,000. So they earned $250,000 in a year. Oh no! Their balance is over $3m. They now have a tax liability. How much? $2,884. That is how much income tax someone pays if they earn... $36,300.

EnergyAustralia's former sustainability manager (ie the person overseeing their offsetting program) is now on the board of the Australian Government's carbon offset regulator. Im sure its fine. #auspol #climate @biancahall.bsky.social www.smh.com.au/environment/...

The Nakba resulted in the displacement of approximately 750,000 Palestinians, many of whom sought refuge in neighbouring countries or within Palestine itself. The cultural and historical loss was profound, with many villages destroyed and erased from memory tinyurl.com/4nn4wd28

‘The intergenerational inequity involved in the largesse handed out by John Howard and Peter Costello to older Australians, on the back of the country's biggest ever resources boom, has only really started to become clear in the past few years’ #auspol www.abc.net.au/news/2025-05...

Price, Hastie, O’Brien (so far) all identified their aim to fight their enemy - the Labor Party. It’s not about us or their constituents - it’s about ‘their enemy’. This brutal political tribalism is the opposite of what we need or want #auspol

Labor's Manager of Opposition Business Mick de Brenni asked late last week, how many Queensland public servants have been terminated? Premier David Crisafulli had refused to answer on multiple occasions during the Thursday 1 May session of parliament. #qldpol

SPEERS: Are you saying it is a war crime? HUSIC: It should be held to account. Starvation is a war crime. Yep.

Happy Mother's Day. It's a moral outrage that we're the only industrialized country without paid family and medical leave.

Another brilliant article from John Hewson ‘It should finally be recognised that Sky News & certain newspapers are no longer news services & they are in part responsible for the resounding thrashing of Peter Dutton & his team’ www.thesaturdaypaper.com.au/comment/topi...

David Crisafulli boasting about his housing taskforce in February. On Friday he took Newman's axe to the Service Delivery section of the Queensland Department of Housing & Public Works. The media remains silent. #qldpol

In New York, ICE detained a busload of farmworkers that were actively involved in a union drive. In Washington state, ICE dragged a farmworkers’ rights activist and leader out of his car to detain him. Be warned: attacking unions is a hallmark of fascism.

If we get this decade right, we can set Australia up for the many decades to come. Let’s keep building Australia’s future. Thank you for having me on 7.30 last night.

Fascinated to see who the Libs choose as next leader. Will it be the woman who added an extra letter to her name for numerology reasons, the man who once described Europe as a ‘country’, or the man who proposed taxing a black market product. They really are spoilt for choice
