Watch! It’s excellent: great content and hilarious presentation.

"On average 15% of [Norwegian] wheat production is of sufficient quality for bread baking. The remaining 85% of wheat production, & almost all barley & oat production, is used as animal feed." I have heard this statistic before, by chance I stumbled across the numbers! www.nibio.no/en/subjects/...

"These are the images millions of Americans and Europeans will never see, protected in their bubbled living rooms by corporate propaganda news that shields them from such sights - atrocities that may lead them to question what their governments are supporting."

Climate denial so easy to understand it's literally black & white.

You've probably heard of Stanley Milgram's 'obedience to authority' experiments By inducing participants to administer apparently serious electric shocks to someone else, in a fake experiment, Milgram showed that we'll usually obey authority over our own conscience Or so the story goes... 1/ 🧵

The end of US leadership in higher education and research. RIP. Trump kept saying he loves the poorly educated, and he's making sure Americans stay that way.

Good thing it isn't actually the ex-wrestling CEO who accredits universities, but still...

Hopefully Ukraine will have already worked out how to reverse engineer them.

Great article on how a German court has ruled that private companies can be held liable for their share in causing climate damages. It's the polluter pays principle, and as such should be a no-brainer. But the fossil fuel industry has so far thought to be exempt. theconversation.com/one-lawsuit-...

We will win, the age of the fossil fuels is ending. What matters is how fast this happens.

A great macroecological data source 👇 🧪 #Macroecology #Paleobio

Really struck by the timely needed wisdom here.

I'll be doing a livestream talking about all things Inflation Reduction Act-related with @climateconnections.bsky.social tomorrow 6/4 at 5–6pm ET. Come join us! 🤓 www.youtube.com/live/aLJVzPD...

A regular (and disturbingly ironic) occurrence now -- climate change-induced wildfires curtail oil & gas operations in Canada.

LRB continues to be one of the best outlets for writing on the abomination that is the Israeli genocidal action and killing of Palestinians.

I cannot emphasize enough that this is simply not true.

“But I’m tired of waking up at 3 in the morning and not being able to fall back asleep because I’m concerned about how I’m going to navigate the latest staffing communiqué.” www.washingtonpost.com/climate-envi...

King Cnut (Canute) Syndrome. They may make insurance easrier to access, but they won't mkae it cheaper. Quite the opposite. Plus, as every homeowner in a zone prone to flooding knows, the chances of insurers removing cover increases every year. The only real solution is to halt climate change.

Very pleased to have this chance to talk to health professionals about the importance of their sector enabling systemic change. Especially by modelling critical values: kindness to all, honesty and, of course, respect for environment.

Most people lose sight of a major disaster after a few months. The reality is that many people have housing problems for years, especially in rural towns. Some areas will never completely rebuild and people will migrate to other parts of the state or country to make a living.

It's funny, I was thinking last week, what happened to the white roof plan to cool cities? This is what happened! Thanks @jenirisallan.bsky.social for sharing www.theguardian.com/environment/...

'$14 billion+ in clean energy investments in the U.S. have been canceled or delayed this year... cost[ing] 10,000 new clean energy jobs.' '$132 billion in plans have been announced since the Inflation Reduction Act passed... Last week’s House bill renders moot many of the law’s incentives.'

It took only 8 years for solar to go from 100 to 1,000 TWh... then it took only 3 years to go from 1,000 to 2,000 TWh. Solar is growing faster than any source of electricity in history ☀️

Senate, a nation turns its lonely eyes to you. So very many expensive mistakes to stop. @robinsonmeyer.bsky.social explains some of the threat to energy abundance (and, incidentally, cleanliness) in the US www.nytimes.com/2025/06/02/o...

Fabulously on-point 🎯 and my own point too - this from @wedonthavetime.bsky.social - “Swiss scientists sounded the alarm — and saved 300 lives… Meanwhile in the US, science is under attack—and scientists are livestreaming the resistance.”

Not really my area, but what a fascinating find this is: less sunlight is reaching deeper ocean waters over the past 20 years. The ocean is darkening... onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...

Wonderful words from @pgirguis.bsky.social - if you wear a seat belt, you’ve benefitted from federally-funded research.

Municipal/state finance/bond and infrastructure people: how are the steel/general tariffs affecting municipal credit? Most civic infrastructure requires this, project costs are going to skyrocket. Is there an impact on municipal debt? 📉📈

Rep. Jeffries will provide an answer as soon as he finishes consulting with Susan Collins about how to craft expressions of concern to produce the greatest impact.

Government lawyers are tying themselves in knots trying to argue EPA's clawback of funds is legal. Thus far courts aren't having it. EPA should focus on mission of environmental protection rather than punishing non-profits trying to ensure low-income communities benefit from energy transition:

Bill passed LA State House 58-32. Headline: "Old men yell at clouds." They're welcome to ban them, but it isn't going to stop the water in the jet exhaust from condensing.

Clean coal is fraud. Fossil gas as a transition fuel is fraud. Carbon capture and storage is fraud. Carbon offsets to extend fossil fuels is fraud....

Margaret Brennan totally exposes FDA Commissioner Makary for making it up as he goes and making conflicting recommendations in order to cast doubt on covid vaccines. He's so terrible during this interview that Brennan is left shaking her head as she wraps it up.

Another Putin lover having a bad day.

We're all living in the danger zone. What the hell is going on and why!
