Somehow missed this: A presentation to advisers for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention cited study in animals suggested that use of the vaccine preservative thimerosal can have “long-term consequences in the brain.” But it looks like that study does not exist. www.cnn.com/2025/06/24/h...

Debunking RFK Jr.’s vaccine BS: No, “97% of federal vaccine advisers” are NOT on the take. No, US children DO NOT receive 92 mandatory shots. Vaccines are exhaustively tested, despite RFK Jr.’s outright lie that “nobody has any idea” how safe routine immunizations are: www.yahoo.com/news/m-physi...

I don't think people in general have wrapped their heads around just how much exploitation trans-friendly youth shelters prevent just by being affirming. If every change in this bill goes into effect, youth homelessness will explode at the exact same time every possible support ceases to exist.

Finally!! The Court has decided to save us from [checks notes] smiling happy people living life and enjoying their family and loved ones.

This was to catch one guy? A regular guy who was not an evil wizard or Iron Man or something? Who the fuck is greenlighting this shit?

A radical Christian just murdered the speaker of a state house but the real worry is the theocratic muslim who said the bus should be cheaper

This is literally exhibit A for why queer joy is so profoundly subversive. Anger is important too. But joy -- "smiling and talking and crying and laughing" -- that's what the fascists want to stamp out. That's the real challenge to their reign.

I'm sure there are caveats due here but, under this ruling, what would stop religious parents from refusing to send their kids to a school with a transgender teacher? At which point, why would a school even hire one?

It’s wild how we have to put up with school shootings every other month because of a comma in this second amendment’s text, but apparently this is still up for interpretation.

This is the problem many of us have with SCOTUS' ruling It doesn't allow Trump to do all of this, but his regime is going to act like it does SCOTUS is fully aware of this and did it anyway

this court says that allowing EPA to regulate carbon emissions is a "major question" that demands congressional debate. but allowing the president to, with a flick of the wrist, end a straightforward constitutional right is something that must be allowed to stand?

Sotomayor nails it. There's no longer anything called general public education, & kids can only be exposed to what their religious zealot parents want them to see, no matter how important or valuable the general lessons are. Math offends your religious views? You can opt your kid out. Evolution?

There's really nothing in this opinion limiting some neo-Bob Jones University types from demanding public schools stop talking about interracial marriage on religious grounds.

If this is the level of subtlety that can lead to a religious liberty violation than, as Sotomayor points out, I don't see how any person can't bring a religious liberty claim to opt out of pretty much anything. Case in point: could Christian Scientists could now opt out of any book with doctors?

Wow that’s broad. Incredibly broad. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/24p...

I regret that I actually understand what Trump is babbling about. He's claiming that birthright citizenship promise of the 14th amendment was ONLY supposed to apply to the babies of slaves born in the US. The "same year" is about it applying to people when 14A happened. He's also completely wrong.

I mean, the ridiculous bit is how often Stephen Miller and MAGA folks focused on getting universal injunctions against Biden. So I'm assuming this is going to be another one of these "well it only applies during GOP presidency" type SCOTUS rulings.

yeah man maybe you shouldn't have orchestrated your retirement so that your fascist beer clerk could take the bench

this is a segregationist administration and it is wild to me that there is any resistance to this straightforward observation

✋ Former State Department war powers lawyer here. Some problems with the Speaker's remarks: --executive branch (even under Trump 1.0) has long treated the WPR as constitutional --some of the post-WWII military actions he refers to (eg Iraq, Afghanistan) had congressional war authorizations 1/n

My sister got a new kitten and it immediately decided to loaf on a watermelon and bless us with this picture.

Abraham Lincoln, who was not president at the time of the Dred Scott ruling, obviously did not do this. He didn’t even *advocate* ignoring the outcome the way the Trump administration is doing. He advocated treating it as only binding on the particular parties.

Planned Parenthood is one of the largest providers of healthcare for poor people across the country. 70% of its patients are under 150% of the poverty line. In vast parts of the country, it is the only place people on Medicaid can get reproductive care. The Supreme Court just ruled to defund it.

Media coverage was the actual target of the Fordow strike. they missed

He saw the box. He became the box :3

Alright, pack it up, nothing can top this.

People shouldn't be unwillingly separated from their families.

Please share your favorite Zohran crash outs here. Thank you in advance.

NEW: Trump's Justice Department has sued every federal district judge in Maryland to challenge a court order temporarily barring the government from carrying out some deportations. The move marks the administration’s latest attempt to undermine federal courts. From @jaknutson.bsky.social:

MAMDANI'S SOCIALIST PROMISES: BABY BASKETS TO NEWBORNS

A lot of people routinely play dumb through these hearings but he's the only guy I've seen who consistently has to have the inner workings of his own department explained to him. Suspect Hegseth would be the same but no one seems interested in talking to him.

it’s time for the democratic establishment to get over their disagreements and back the talented young superstar politician from the great city of New York for the good of the party vote blue, guys

Zohran’s results so far just show how tired Americans are of the status quo, how we need creative, people-first campaigning and governance, and why positive, progressive politics are the future. Hate to get ahead of myself before results are called but I’m so freakin happy right now.

PALLONE: With regard to vaccines, are you just afraid to receive public comments on proposals? There's been no public process RFK JR: We have a public process for regulating vaccines. It's called the ACIP committee. PALLONE: You fired the committee!

waking up to some normal early morning posts

DeGETTE: Will you commit that neither you or anyone else at HHS will take retaliatory action against the brave scientists at NIH? Should be an easy answer bc it's illegal RFK Jr: I can commit that we are absolutely depoliticizing science at NIH for the first time D: I asked you a simple question

RFK JR: Another study shows the covid vaccine leads to an increase in miscarriage. There's no safety data for it, so we're not gonna recommend it. KELLY: Not true. We had a pediatrician that is on that committee. Not true.

This is one of those "I was told there would be no math" moments

hey, i made a terrible comic instead of working #makeaterriblecomicday2025
