something i really appreciate about Xabungle is how often women are driving the plot or saving the day. even the cabaret dancers get their moments to shine. nobody is left out. there are shows that struggle with giving women equal spotlight TODAY, never you mind the 80s.

the culture of Zola being so deeply selfish makes Jiron's willingness to help others and commitment to egalitarianism, despite his own flaws, even more endearing than if this had been set on earth. he really is a massive anomaly in this world. i can see why Elchi and Rag latched on to him so readily

a really interesting character flaw that you dont see often in heroes is that Jiron is a massive fucking hypocrite. he's constantly invoking the three day law to skirt by consequences, but is himself motivated to violate that law and believes it to be fundamentally unfair. it gives him texture
