Everything that’s happened over the past six months has been a response to an imaginary crisis. There is no immigrant invasion. No trade crisis. No scientific or governance crisis. Just people completely high off their own supply trying to fundamentally reorder society. None of this had to happen.

The irony: The last president to send the National Guard into a state without a request from the state’s governor was Lyndon B. Johnson. That was in 1965, to *protect civil rights demonstrators* in Alabama. To protect demonstrators. Not to attack them.

Marine veterans are speaking out against the troop deployment in Los Angeles. Across the country, they’re taking down their American flags that have flown in front of their homes for years. Remember, we have friends everywhere.

True story…

The deployment of federalized National Guard troops to California, without consent from local or state officials, is deeply troubling. These are tactics seen in authoritarian regimes, not in America. We want to be clear, the military should not be used to police civilians.

Suppose they gave a military parade for $60 million and nobody showed up 😏. And yes, the cost of this has gone up to $60 million 🤦🏻‍♀️ #IYKYK

This is why *none* of his nominees should have been approved by Dem senators. An absolute abomination.

What happened to states’ rights, Kristi?

Goldman: Both of the issues Marjorie Taylor Greene raised—were widely publicized and thoroughly debated in committee and on the House floor. If you’re publicly admitting that you didn’t know what you were voting on and now regret it—you’re not competent or qualified to serve in Congress.

Trump quoted Hitler and said he'd unleash the National Guard against the "enemy from within" before the election. Here we are folks.

the white house thinks brute force is, no pun intended, a trump card. they don’t anticipate pushback and they don’t know how to handle it with anything other than escalation. the issue is that each escalation is itself a gamble. if protesters refuse to back down, you’ve lost face. (1/?)

They keep insisting they’re not cutting Medicaid and then turn around and say the quiet part out loud. Millions will lose care under this budget deal. Don’t be fooled. This is a plan to strip working people of their health care, pure and simple.

So are we just teaching our kids they have to obey anyone with a mask and an unmarked car and an oddly-fitting vest and zip ties now and go with them? Is this where we’re at?

Addressing a packed room at the Border Security Expo, the acting ICE director, Todd Lyons, said, “We need to get better at treating this like a business.” He described his agency’s goal to be “like [Amazon] Prime, but with human beings.”

Needs to be repeated over and over again. In all caps.

America’s gas pipeline buildout is mainly for exports—not energy independence

The education and work force fallout will take generations to correct. Republicans can’t see that?

Can we please stop acting like any of this has anything to do with antisemitism? They’re attacking institutions of higher education because that’s what autocrats do. Let’s not pretend otherwise.

This musk statement needs to be followed up with an investigation.

Indeed we do.

MUST READ: AJI’s @walkerbragman.bsky.social interviewed a dozen people working inside the National Institutes of Health about their new leader, Director Jay Bhattacharya. They candidly painted a bleak picture of an agency, considered the crown jewel of the U.S., in dramatic decline.

Jonathan Joss was Comanche and Apache and an openly gay actor. He was murdered while looking at the remains of his dogs at his own house that was burnt down. The killer yelled homophobic slurs before shooting him. This is the real world consequences of the hatred that the right commodifies

Earlier, I made a post about the effects of federal cuts to NOAA/NWS & took a lot of heat for it. Out of an abundance of caution, I deleted the post. And yet here we are - watching this meteorologist confirming what I said:

Big brother now has smart robots. The future is here. There is no privacy.

Anyone surprised? Her slip is a perfect headline for gop policy.

I do feel like this isn't being talked about enough (by lawmakers). Rep. Goldman asks the right question: if what you're doing is lawful and above board, why are you hiding?

Russell Vought, now a key figure in the DOGE, is openly challenging the constitutionality of the Impoundment Control Act of 1974. He claims the executive branch has the authority to withhold funds even after Congress has appropriated them, essentially saying the president, not Congress,

My radical position is that congress should remove a president if he pronounces that his predecessor was assassinated and replaced by a clone

A mass shooting in NC with over 80 rounds discharged. One man is dead, others hospitalized even as the NC legislature pushes permitless carry. SB50 went from committee to approval in 48 hours & awaits House action. The GOP is so not a pro life party.
