@theguardian.com this is very very poor...

My talented colleagues at Historic Environment #Scotland have written, directed and starred in an excellent video for Doune Castle and the new 'Park and Stride' facilities for visitors www.youtube.com/watch?v=9tgq... Fans of Monty Python & The Holy Grail should spot a few easter eggs along the way

May 16: Feast of Brénainn mac Findloga (Brendan the Navigator) († c.577), founder-abbot of Cluain Fearta (Clonfert, Ireland). According to his Life, he also founded a monastery on Ailech in the Hebrides, which has been identified with Eileach an Naoimh, pictured. 📸Rude Health #medievalsky

An absolutely glorious day on Inchcolm Island. Showing colleagues round the 20th century military remains and the medieval abbey

I’m old enough to remember the days when there was no Upper Palaeolithic in Scotland…

#reliefwednesday The early medieval and medieval stone collection in the Abercorn micro-museum includes cross shafts, hogback stones Located in the Session House, the collection is accessible at most reasonable times www.trove.scot/designation/...

That's @firstmillennia.bsky.social moved over here!

A decent day picking apart a historic building. As always seems to be the case, we now know less than we thought we did this morning 🤣 But there's at least three phases of build, and one of them seems to be definitely medieval

@stoneclub.bsky.social #StandingStoneSunday IKEA Edinburgh

#StandingStoneSunday Well, the standing stone is on the label Cuvée du Menhir currently available in Lidl

Do you use Historic Environment Scotland's data? If so you need to know that Canmore is being retired this June. Trove (www.trove.scot) is replacing it and is now online in beta. Please try it out and feedback your comments here: haveyoursay.historicenvironment.scot/heritage/470...

Absolutely terrible news

More fantastic work from our #archaeology friends at Forestry and Land Scotland. A wonderful reconstruction of Boreland chambered cairn in Dumfries and Galloway forestryandland.gov.scot/blog/dig-dee...

Thanks to my Dad Monty Python and the Holy Grail was a very formative film for me. And I still can't quite believe I'm lucky enough to work with Camelot/Anthrax/Swamp (aka Doune) location for some of the most famous comedic scenes. But 50?! Not possible www.theguardian.com/film/2025/ap...

Recently visited Cairnpapple henge and cairn for the first time without 200 students. 2 of the early medieval burials marked with white pebbles (not original) align with the Bass Rock on the horizon, while one looks to Arthur's Seat/Din Eidyn. More interesting than the simple 'E-W = Christian' view

A sunny visit to Linlithgow Palace today. The views from Queen Margaret's Bower were stunning as always, the spire of St Michael's Church looking particularly resplendent. The bower is thought to have been built for Margaret Tudor who married James IV in 1503, and the ceiling boss is a Tudor rose
