Saw this on Reddit the other day… really didn’t think that someone would make such a solid test about folding bicycles. www.adac.de/rund-ums-fah... Interesting what gets points off too (no kickstand, lack of lights, etc)

"As Megan Ramey of @bikabout.com points out, it's astounding "that every industry but the bike industry knows how to sell bikes"."

As much as I think about not owning a car again, there’s something about the original mini that just makes me smile and acquiesce to the idea of it… Maybe w/a dual-motor setup like the BMW i3 and yea, joy for the long and short drives alike

I always tell people to build the skills you need for the next job. Think of the stories, the case studies you’ll tell after you leave your current job. That’ll make you more intentional about how you chart your path. Who cares if you followed a process or managed a bunch of people?

Visited Bike Athens and was greeted by one of @tomflood.bsky.social’s signs… definitely made for a great 1st impression. Dope work Scott and his team does there. I did good by not coming away with a bike, but will def want to visit/volunteer next time I come thru Athens

To paraphrase someone on the bird I saw a while ago: "Good health is a temporary condition." The human condition will tap all of us on the shoulder, sooner or later. Your body will not work perfectly your whole life. Some of us will reach that point sooner than others -- but we will reach it.

This was really a lot of fun to finally chat about in more detail. I think I covered about half of the way that I use it… There’s a few things that I just can’t share so easily… Muse is absolutely wonderful though. Lots more software should be designed this intentionally.

Can’t wait to have this video of me and @museapp.bsky.social go live. There are some gems and some thrown stones in this chat

This planning Academy has been insightful in several ways. But probably one of the more indirect things I’m learning is just how much I’ve learned about planning, zoning, urban development, and policy in a short time. Not exactly sure where this is heading though personally speaking… šŸ”®

ā€œIn my particular case, it works okay because I'm only using it to commute a few times a week for city cycling. I also have more storage space than a one bedroom apartment… and I can just marvel at how much more portable it is than my regular bike.ā€ Lots miss this very key bit of the G-line

Ride a bike they said, it'll be fun they said! Kidding, we embrace and celebrate the radicalization. If only the anti-bike lane folks would take a ride in our shoes, we're certain their perspectives would change. It's the humanity of it. As always, genius šŸ“· by @tomflood.bsky.social

Maybe it’s good that I watched the Not Just Bikes video on trams and BRT yesterday… …currently sitting in at the announcement of the Flash Bus Transit Network connecting Montgomery and Howard counties Notable (to me) is that I was the only person who biked here. Small pebbles before big changes šŸ˜

Am kinda back… kinda… def back in the land of overheating and resets too… ā€œahhh, the hacking edge. Oh how I’ve missed theeā€ flic.kr/p/2r2XHmp

Did you know the ā€œweekendā€ and working only 8 hours per day used to be considered a radical, liberal idea? 139 years ago today, in Bay View, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 7 workers (including a 13 yo) lost their lives to advance this revolutionary idea. A 🧵

I love introducing people: once you know who's a good match, making a connection is pure joy. You feel like you're advancing the very nature. Every meaningful connection is a fork in the road of life. www.peepsapp.ai/blog/introdu...

Have to work on facial expressions and responses when folks say ā€œbe safeā€ when biking from these late evening board meetings… …really want to šŸ¤ŒšŸ½ ā€œwhy are you making roadways unsafeā€ bit. But perhaps should grab a few of @tomflood.bsky.social stickers www.creativebyrovelo.com/product-page...

And somewhat side comment, I’m strongly thinking about how to get an official @bromptonbicycle.bsky.social retailer (or just a few certified mechanics) closer to me. Even in this ā€œloosely connectedā€ central MD, it’s such a suitable mobility device

If the @bromptonbicycle.bsky.social electric G-line came here as a Class 3… based on just my rides over the past two days, I’d seriously consider trading in my current. Current one isn’t bad. But the convenience after the ride would be hella attractive. eG-line would need bigger battery though

Thinking about this and the new trusted verification feature… wonder if for some of us who might be using our own websites for verification that there was some type of similar badge. Maybe not a circle, but maybe something simpler icon (globe, pen, etc.) šŸ¤”

I remember when school faculty used to say you can’t trust what you’d find on the Internet. So would ask them the techniques to validate… And some would hold that to their chest as if it were a secret treasure. Feels like that’s sometimes the way people still treat search… ā€œLMGTFUā€ is a cuss-phrase

Our church's annual Blessing of the Bicycles for Earth Day included quoting the @tomflood.bsky.social meme "bicycles deliver the freedom that car ads promise" which got a good laugh from the crowd.

Little guy šŸ• made sure that I wouldn’t move earlier today. His owner said that doing that was unusual for him. I took it as a ā€œhey, I own you now sirā€ move flic.kr/p/2r1e9uN

I really do like the way that an electric bicycle makes a really good argument for some of my road trips. Just the impact of trimming 12 minutes off of an analog bike ride of the same distance is enough to positively impact my day.

People who've biked for decades may not realize how daunting it is for a novice to even understand what options exist. (I've experienced this myself -- I was in my 30s when I bought my first bike.) Nice to see AARP offer this primer.
