Apropos of absolutely nothing: When I lived in Africa for a year, I was shocked by how much people raved about American generosity. We helped turn the tide of HIV/AIDS for people who could not afford to do so. We were known for that generosity. Efficiency isn’t everything. Generosity is great.

A reminder that Evangelicals should be, as they once were, among the most reliable supporters of refugees, a stunningly large proportion of whom are persecuted brothers and sisters in Christ.

There is the possibility of a privileged passivity by some Christians’ insistence that any Inauguration Day is not the most important thing happening at any given time. But the rock-solid conviction that there is a God who rules over the nations is actually what propels a life like Dr. King’s.

Life flows from the throne of heaven not the steps of the Capitol. Thankful to be a citizen of an unshakable kingdom of grace & peace. Let us pray.
