The point of my post yesterday wasn’t that there are no violent people on the left. It was to highlight how far gone the Republican Party is when a sitting U.S. Senator is spreading disinformation that could get more people killed and is seeming to take joy in exploiting political assassination.

Mike Lee's bullshit serves multiple purposes. In one fell swoop, he is refocusing the discourse on whether this was RW violence as opposed to what we do about RW violence; avoiding condemning right-wing violence without openly approving it; and justifying criminalization of left-wing dissent.

Just four hours ago, even after we’ve learned the shooter was as an anti-abortionist Trump supporter, a sitting U.S. Senator is spreading fake conspiracy theories blaming the murder of a Democratic lawmaker on Democrats. Not only that, he’s pinned the post! Abominably evil stuff from Mike Lee.
