This is at least the second time someone has been hit and killed by a car on Peachtree Street in downtown Atlanta since Mayor Dickens removed the pedestrian improvements. Can someone please run against him? www.11alive.com/article/news... #Atlanta #urbanism #walkability

This is the best bike map of Atlanta I've seen; I refer to it often. It's crowd-sourced and distinguishes by the quality of infrastructure (e.g. protected lane vs paint vs off-road shared trail)

I passed 950 miles on my e-bike! I think around 700 of those miles replaced driving, so I calculate I reduced my emissions by about 280kg CO2. That's the equivalent carbon sequestration of 10 mature trees for a whole year. #ebike #EarthDay #cycling #sustainability

"American zoning" or "that's not what I meant by YIMBY."

Took a ride to check out the new Westside Paper Spur Trail. It's a nice addition that connects more of the Westside to the Beltline. #Atlanta #cycling #urbanism

Some very welcome news - tomorrow #MARTA starts its new weekend rail frequency. Time between trains on most of the system (including the airport and all downtown and midtown stations) will be improved to 7.5 minutes. Now let's hope they can reduce single tracking. #transit #Atlanta

There are new bioswales in my neighborhood, which helps with flooding and the urban heat island. But the city didn't plant anything and they collect debris and end up looking ugly. Thoughts on guerilla urbanism for these? Wildflower seeds? Cheap & resilient semi-aquatic plants? #Atlanta #urbanism

1072 West Peachtree construction update. Still about 30 floors left to go on this 733ft tall building. #Atlanta #skyscrapers

Big storm incoming

Went for a little bike ride and walk on the Beltline this morning. I can't stress enough how much this has improved quality of life in my city. #Atlanta #Beltline #cycling #urbanism

From a short walk today. What's the point of a bike lane if there's no enforcement? USPS and Midtown Alliance parking on green paint, the sidewalk, and between planters. Sigh. #Atlanta #urbanism

Honestly this train bunching is impressive, I'm not sure you could do better if you tried. #MARTA #Atlanta

@alexip718.com once again an absolutely disgraceful showing by #MARTA. On a Saturday with a large protest, an MLS game, an NBA game, and the 404 day parade, MARTA is single tracking on a 24 minute schedule, with no red or green lines, and single platforming at 5 Points. #transit #Atlanta

A flyer for a local bike club on the bulletin board of a coffee shop is so wholesome. #cycling #Marietta #BetterCobb

@altcdc.altgov.info This is absolutely wild. They have no idea what they're doing and are putting people through hell. #cdc #hhs abcnews.go.com/Politics/rfk...

With everything going on, I had to take a walk to literally stop and smell the flowers. Took my Claritin and then took some deep breaths. #Atlanta #spring

BREAKING: I'm at GDOT for The Stitch's public meeting. There are many proposed protected bike infrastructure improvements in Phase I. This includes bringing back a road diet on Peachtree St. that Atlanta Mayor Dickens axed, before a driver killed an elderly man along a faded crosswalk last month.

CDC's entire division of environmental health science and practice was fired today. Asthma, lead poisoning, air pollution, radiation safety, safe water, cruise ship inspections... all of it gone. #cdc #hhs #doge www.wired.com/story/cdc-gu...

Atlanta pollen count today is 14801, the highest ever recorded. Anything above 1500 is considered "extremely high" and we're an order of magnitude past that. Warmer winter and spring temperatures due to climate change impact pollen, and the healthcare costs are substantial. #Atlanta #ClimateChange

Wooooooo Westside Beltline direct protected bike infrastructure connection to a MARTA station. Yes please.

Rode my bike downtown today to meet up for lunch. A bike ride lets you stop and see details you would never see while driving a car. #Atlanta #Cycling #architecture

Giving up just one on-street parking space allowed Dancing Goats cafe to put in this great little outdoor seating area. And it's right next to a subway station. ❀️ #Atlanta #urbanism #transit

Just a DC metro train to brighten up your morning. #transit #wmata

New 5th street cycle track is just about ready. #Atlanta #Cycling #urbanism

Wake up babe, new bike parking just dropped! Absolutely love this. #Atlanta #biking

Can we please get a mayor that actually cares about transit and urbanism? This is so disappointing and embarrassing. #Atlanta #transit #MARTA #Beltline

Waiting for a bus at GA Tech while watching cyclists and scooter riders make good use of the new bike track is an encouraging experience! I want this to be a pattern for the future of Atlanta streets.
