In 1977, Andrew Cuomo was working on his father's unsuccessful mayoral campaign against Ed Koch. Voters received mailers saying, "Vote for Cuomo, not the homo", which Andrew Cuomo has been widely reported to be responsible for. He's been using the same bigoted campaign tactics for nearly 50 years.

Still the greatest military headline of all time

Between 1970 and 1985, a typical American family could save 10% of their income for about five years and accumulate a 20% down payment on a median-priced existing single-family home, according to a New York Times analysis. As of 2023, it would take nearly eight years, the data shows. nyti.ms/3FKEzkx

Here's something I post from time to time. My answer to a reader who asked me: what could journalists do NOW to break with some of their more corrosive habits.

I did my best to compile as many protest safety notes as possible into a one page foldout zine! Coincidentally…it seems the file has breached containment…like it’s available for anyone to print or hand out 👀⚖️ toonyart.com/s/PSZine.pdf

Fun fact: in the 1960s, Civil Rights protestors were given literal classes on nonviolent protest; they didn't all just spontaneously know what to do. So, if you're planning on showing up, this weekend: read this comic. And if you're staying home, signal-boost it/link it around.

Talking of playbooks, page one of that fetid book is to falsely associate your enemy with the darkest of threats: The Nazis (1942) 'Der Untermensch' (Jews) Daily Mail (1980s) 'Britain threatened by gay virus plague' (gay men Trump (2016) 'Drug dealers, criminals, rapists' (Mexicans)

I was in Alaska less than 24 hours before I heard that Alaska Natives are genetically more susceptible to drug and alcohol abuse. I can't find the study right now (in the field), but that has been disproven. So, like, stop spreading that plz?

They cut Gaza’s last internet cable to suffocate more than two and a half million people living under siege, hunger, and extermination. This is not just a loss of connection it is the killing of humanity itself. While Iran is bombed without justification and without a UN resolution,

this too is a trans allegory

I had a joke about Enkidu but it's on my tablet

bluesky is the #1 app for introspection

Noone is getting out alive and unless you're part of an inherently lucky few noone is getting a happy life for free. So without hurting ppl or stealing happiness from others, take what you can fuckin get and run. There's no way to make your life worth while that waits for permission and validation.

We've always assumed increasing NHS spending is a good thing, because it makes us better. But suppose that it is now becoming a measure of just how sick our economy is making us? Shouldn't we be looking at curing the problems that make us ill in that case? www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2025/06...

This paragraph is on point. Having known many people whose mental and even physical health issues are CAUSED by work.

This is what my family in Los Angeles keeps telling me whenever I call them. NO ONE FEELS SAFE TO GO OUTSIDE

noem saying thery're going to "liberate" california from its leaders seconds before federal law enforcement restrains and removes one of the state's senators from the room—like what else needs to be said

just as Trump believes Putin is right to invade Ukraine and Xi is right to invade Taiwan, he believes he is right to invade California

if ur bluesky feed is boring it’s because you’re not following enough weird trans girls

Sen. Schiff: "Alex Padilla, on the ground, face to the ground, and in handcuffs — if you were looking for an image of our democracy in handcuffs, look no further."

Democrats are still supporting ICE, which is now a lawless, violent Gestapo for the Trump regime that is terrorizing innocent communities and assaulting Senator Padilla. Just sit with it for a moment.

This all happened in California. Can California arrest the FBI goons who assaulted California's senior senator?

Sabrina Carpenter is just the latest in a long line of theater kids turned pop stars whose favorite thing to do is be publicly weird and sexy in their underwear—Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus etc. It's fun to be young and fun and run around in lingerie in public. It's why I did Rocky Horror! Live a little!

These 11 Democrats just joined the GOP to vote to force DC police to cooperate with ICE, against the city's own laws. Ed Case Henry Cuellar Don Davis Laura Gillen Jared Golden Vicente Gonzalez Adam Gray Kristen McDonald Rivet Marie Gluesenkamp Perez Tom Suozzi George Whitesides

It's wild how if you take the arc of Andor as a series, the Empire acts consistently less evil, less oppressive, and less violent than real-life Israel does - yet the various groups of resistance and opposition absolutely feel justified in their many forms of fighting the Empire.

I want to talk about how the media is going to be responsible for increasing levels of violence. Here's the thing: the protests have been peaceful.

Because Black people know that there is no such thing as “identification” or “identifying yourself”. They aren’t saying Padilla didn’t identify himself as a U.S. Senator. They are saying that there is only one acceptable identity — credential — being white and, in these times, being pro-Trump.

New York, I need y'all to make Schumer's life a living hell until he takes serious action

This is insane and also I hope that seeing a US fucking senator thrown to the ground and cuffed for asking a question will help some of the people who still aren’t getting it to recognize that THE POLICE ARE THE SOURCE OF THE VIOLENCE

Every elected Republican should be asked if they think the president has the power to send in military in to “liberate” a state or city from its elected government.

More Americans voted for Senator Alex Padilla than for 48 of the 53 red state GOP U.S. Senators combined.

In the past week, a union leader has been arrested, a U.S. Rep charged with a crime, a U.S. Senator violently handcuffed, and reporters shot with rubber bullets and detained. There is no ambiguity. This is a regime operating as an authoritarian. Americans who believe in liberty must oppose it.

Electing Andrew Cuomo mayor would be New Yorkers declaring that they supported this and actually want more of it the next time.

I think people need to understand that the violence in LA has solely been at the hands of the LAPD, who operates under the authority of our Democrat mayor and above her, our Democrat governor. It’s grotesque the Nat’l Guard and Marines are even here, but it’s the police that are brutalizing people.

“Bluesky isn’t successful unless it’s GROWING” is the exact mindset that got us into this mess, and it’s why every fucking social media app is infested with right wing bias rn

Texas House Bill 229 enforces a definition of sex based on the reproductive system someone was born with. This definition could now be applied across state statute, leaving trans people and lawyers rushing to understand what exactly will change as a result of this law.

there is something deeply rotten & corrupted in the hearts & minds of everybody in the tech industry & journos covering it that they don't see "wear these glasses so an AI can tell you how to smile properly & chew your food" as a real & nightmarish problem to be snuffed out rather than a cool gizmo
