#MayWeDance The answer for both reading and writing is 3-5 chili peppers, the more the better. I started writing again because I wanted more sex in the urban fantasy I was reading. Then I went to the school of @kateerobert.com and I’ve never looked back. High heat brings me joy to read and write.

Also reminder to romance authors that we only shoot ourselves in the foot if we try to play the "but we're not porn" game. Those of us who write hot/queer already get clipped on a regular basis, but nothing is "respectable" enough. Your turn WILL come.

#MayWeDance * Mulder/Scully (The X-Files) * Josh/Donna (The West Wing) * Chuck/Sarah (Chuck) * Tom/B’Elanna (Star Trek: Voyager) * Jacob/Akira (A Gentleman In The Street by Alisha Rai)

Not sure who linked my itchio guide yesterday, but it's up to 4 times its usual weekly traffic and views, so thank you! medium.com/p/dea0446f3f5f

My writing is 100% made by me through years of practice. I’ve been writing since I was a child. I was on my middle school’s creative writing team. I wrote fanfic through high school and college, and I’ve been writing stories for my friends since 2013. It’s not talent; it’s dedication to my craft.

Oh good lord that “motivation” is trash. ANYONE CAN GET GOOD IF THEY PUT IN THE EFFORT. You have to tolerate sucking at first, but even just 10 minutes of practice a day will make you better. AI is for people who want recognition without doing the work to achieve it. It is for lazy people.

TFW when you mention the idea for a book you’re planning on writing at some point, and other people think it’s a good idea 😁

While I'm on the general subject of "AI," let me just say that it's a real dickheaded maneuver to tell an actual artist that their work "looks like AI." Their work doesn't look like "AI" because they're aping what "AI" does; it looks like "AI" because the "AI" company fucking stole from them.

4 types of characters I write: 1. Badass intelligent women over 35; 2. The men who would die for them; 3. Quirky cinnamon roll sidekicks; 4. Clever antagonists with extremely punchable faces

He assumes that I don’t do this naturally. What was I last doing in Animal Crossing? Fuck if I know!

Eh. Haven’t done much actual writing. Did admin on Monday and worked on non-writing projects yesterday. I have a job interview and a birthday party today, so I don’t know if I’ll get any writing done until tomorrow.

Hey world, remember when you thought this was awesome? (Which, by the way, it was). Yeah well she's been suspended for a week now because of it; it's coloniser rules and forms of expression allowed only, indigenous people must only be angry in white ways. www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...

Because #DoctorWho needed one of its very own. Please imagine Jon Pertwee saying this in his best 1970's scolding manner.

Dear critics: you can still write your sexy Skarsgård!bot fanfic even though Murderbot is agender. I promise you there are ways to have sex without involving genitals. You have a bigger issue writing a Murderbot that actually wants to be around people long enough to have sex.

This! Give me the limits conversation! Give me a sense of trust between these participants! Give me aftercare beyond cuddling, and discussions about drop, and all of the minutiae of a kink relationship! Do your research or don’t write about kink. It’s more complex than you think.

Alex Lane, private detective, is having a very bad week. Danny Ellis is back in town after abandoning her six years ago, and he’s hiding something that will completely change her world. Read Alex and Danny’s story in Strange Magic, now posting on Radish! https://radishfiction.com/stories/32702

This is an excellent zine. It’s not directly about books, but it is making me consider how best to publish my stories, especially in light of Amazon being the worst. (Also really want to make some flash fiction zines after reading this, but that’s a different project...)

Good morning! Book comps can be tough to find if you’re writing in a small niche or genre - but they’re essential for trad publishing and great for marketing indie books too! That's why we're hosting a FREE virtual panel about how to find and fram book comps on May 25th events.humanitix.com...

I've said it on social media, I warned at the end of the new book, and now I have an official blog post to link to: the KDP rep update today reaffirms my choice to stop selling on Kindle. www.skyladawncameron.com/2025/05/torc...

No Tolerance for Intolerance. -or- Nazi Punks, Fuck Off!

I cannot hear this type of ridiculous business language without thinking of @hotdogsladies.bsky.social @scottsimpson.bsky.social and @adamlisagor.com. Thank you, gentlemen, for your blue-sky solutioneering on YLNT.

Given that her striptease in True Lies was a bit of a bisexual awakening for me, gonna go with that one even though I like A Fish Called Wanda better as a movie.

Rudy looking out upon his kingdom (the back yard).

…I should probably have a better answer to this question than “I wanted a female-led Dresden Files, but with more smut.”
