NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey mayor is arrested at ICE detention center where he was protesting its opening, acting US attorney says.

I am outraged by the unjust arrest of Newark Mayor Ras Baraka earlier this afternoon outside of Delaney Hall in Newark. I am calling for his immediate release by federal law enforcement.

Judge Sessions is right. Neither Rumeysa Ozturk or anyone else in America should be in jail for authoring an op-ed critical of Israel, or on any subject. Trump and colleagues should read the Constitution and, especially, the First Amendment. Ozturk must be released immediately.

A federal judge ordered the government to release Rumeysa Ozturk, a Tufts University graduate student who was grabbed off the street in late March and detained for co-writing an opinion piece in a student newspaper criticizing the war in Gaza.

Guaranteeing universal paid family and medical leave in America would cost $325 billion. It would cost around $50 billion to build 1,000 schools. Ending homelessness costs around $200 billion. A Five & Dime wealth tax would raise $7 TRILLION. See why we say "tax the rich?"

Sure, why not wreck another great American institution that has been a beacon of light around the world for decades and replace it MAGA’s North Korean style channel. www.npr.org/2025/05/07/n...

Had to call out Nancy Mace and her hypocrisy over trans people. I won’t stop fighting for our community.

Does Nancy Mace have separate male and female toilets in her house? Because most people don’t.

Powell: "If the large increases in tariffs that have been announced are sustained, they are likely to generate a rise in inflation, a slowdown in economic growth, and an increase in unemployment."

It's tough to refer to someone as a criminal if you've given them no due process to determine whether they're a criminal. Like if you get arrested and get a trial and are convicted of 34 felony counts. That's due process. You can call that guy a criminal.
