We are honored to mark the 3rd year of the Environmental Justice Freedom School! Students started their journey yesterday, diving into EJ principles and meeting with AFGE union workers. Day 2 took us to the frontlines of water treatment at MWRD Calumet Facility and …

To Baba, who gave everything so we could have everything. From kite flying to weekly Chicago Botanic Garden walks, to the love for museums and parks, & the outdoors starts from you and mama. Happy Father’s Day 🌳🪁

It was an honor to spend this morning at the Roseland Community Forest Garden, which Pancho McFarland and wonderful community volunteers manage. Imagine if every empty lot in Chicago were a community forest garden and the endless opportunities it would provide to everyone.

Before and after from the GW garden: today vs 2 years ago

Last week, I had the beautiful opportunity to spend an entire day with farmers & sharpening our foraging skills at McHenry County. From plant ID to food prep, learning to work with the forest menu safely are essential skills schools should consider including in the environmental curriculum 🌳✨

I never imagined we would get a dust storm alert here in Chicago. The timeline we are in is something else

Finishing up AP Environmental Science curriculum with an ocean acidification lab We tested 2 conditions, adding CO₂ to simulate fossil fuel impact. In just 20 minutes, the water turned yellow, showing a drop in pH and increased acidity ⚠️🌎🪸 #EnvironmentalScience #OceanAcidification #ClimateChange

I found $1 while picking up trash. You can have the chance to find $1 if you come to our events

We had an absolute blast today with the Chicago Teachers Union riding, picnicking, bird watching, and cleaning up Douglas Park. Thanks to @ayeshaqazilampert.bsky.social for organizing with us and Jesse Sharkley for speaking.

Chicago biking community, Is anyone down to help marshal the Pedal for the Planet event on Sunday? 🌎 We would love the help in making sure our ride together is safe for our riders

We could use a few more marshals for all busses. Shoot us a DM if you're interested. We're hosting marshal training tomorrow (see next post) if you'd like to learn and then put it to great use

Looking forward to this ride. Any Bridgeporters going? I think the Hyde Park bus will be rolling through Armour Square Park at 9:45 and Bosley Park at 9:50.

Women’s History Month finishing strong! I’m very grateful our union can make these demands without striking. Our union, comprised mainly of women in a women-dominated profession, is dedicated to uplifting the conditions for our students' learning, our schools, and our working environment.

EPA workers are marching to defend the agency’s mission to protect human health & the environment. With the health of our country and our children's future on the line, we must demand the Trump administration to stop its efforts to dismantle the EPA. #SupportEPAWorkers #SaveEPA @704afge.bsky.social

Support Women’s History Month & check out the Forest Preserve District of Cook County event this Saturday morning! I'm thrilled and humbled to join this panel alongside inspiring women in conservation like Lillian Holden. Spread the word, bring a friend, & let us know if you plan on being there 💚

Ugh I’m speechless

Chicago friends & all those attending, Let me know if you plan on going and/or presenting! Would love to connect there 🐝

TONIGHT! CM Punk comes to the ring on Raw with a Chicago Teachers Union shirt. Given former WWE CEO Linda McMahon’s new Trump gig destroying the dept of ed, given her anti-union past, given the CTU’s history defending public schools, this is 🔥. ‘CM’ stands for “Chicago Made” and that’s real af.

Hawaiian crows are extinct in the wild and are found nowhere else on Earth. Now, a small group, safeguarded in captivity, has been released in the forests of Maui.
