If you try to remove a parrot from its roost by extending your hand, it will feign a "bite". If you flinch, it will bite. If you don't, it will perch on UR hand. They are testing- by flinching you prove untrustworthy so they sit. If you don't flinch, they'll trust you. It's very much like that
