Does your culture see boundaries as disrespectful?

Where are the therapists at on here! 👀

Imagine you lived in a world where you couldn’t hurt someone’s feelings or disappoint anyone, what would you do today? Who would you be?

Morning Bluesky ☕️ I was just about to do a little screaming into the abyss, but apparently, I've been put on hold.

You can be the sweetest peach on the tree 🍑 but some people just don’t like peaches.

Does setting boundaries feel like disrespect in your culture?

Your attachment style is not your relational destiny.

Want to know why the US has been free from polio since 1979? Vaccines. Which RFK Jr. wants to get rid of. I bet you can guess what will happen if he gets his way.

People-pleasing is a “quick fix” to your insecurity, fear, and relational scarcity.

Trauma conditioning lies to us about how important others' approval is. It just does. It knows getting us to believe that others' approval is as (or more!) important than oxygen is an amazing way to keep us anxious & focused on things other than our own needs, goals, & recovery.

People-pleasing is a mechanism for control. The goal is to get people to like you, even at the expense of being your authentic self.

“Your emergency is not my urgency.”

Anyone else glued to their phone after the election? We’re inundated with political news and stress. Challenge yourself to take a step back and do something rewarding for 30 minutes and remind yourself that you have some control in your life.

Anxiety can look like avoidance when you’re afraid you’ll fail at something. Anxiety can look like control when you’re afraid you’ll fail at something. Anxiety exists on a spectrum and your way of coping with fear can be anywhere from under-responding to over-responding.

“A society grows great when old men plant trees the shade of which they know they will never sit in.” -Ancient Greek Proverb

331. That’s how many days since the start of 2024 you’ve been working on your mental health. As we prepare to sit around the table with family who you may struggle to see eye-to-eye with, don’t forget all of the progress and self-healing you’ve done this year. You can survive 1 day. You got this 🩵

“There is no prize to perfection. Only an end to pursuit.” -Viktor from Arcane.

Anxiety isn’t always racing heart & nervousness. It’s people-pleasing because you fear being judged. It’s not sharing your authentic thoughts because you don’t want someone to stop liking you. It’s overthinking about something then feeling stupid when everything worked out in the end. Anxiety sucks.
