Longer-term goals for this week: Bring level up enough in the Courtyard to plant the Gala apple tree. Start laying base for fieldstone "pavers", and start laying those. Up-pot the new purple-leaf sand cherries into 7-gallon grow bags. Fix the old painted arbor and place it.

First picture is from when I stopped to head to the office; second is after a touch more work I did during my dinner break. Progress, but it doesn’t feel like much. I do have plans for tomorrow, at least. How hard did I work? 1.5 gallons of juice, gone in the last two days. Gotta get more.

Re: Hedges The challenge here is finding an evergreen plant that doesn't spread, doesn't get too terribly tall, can stomach our heat and dryness, and that won't be targets for heavy predation. Arborvitae hits all but the last item; deer freaking love them. Same with yew and laurel.

Other things I'm pondering tonight: Still trying to figure out where to put this vignette idea. Thinking about the path from the Courtyard to the shed; I use this path on my walks to and from the office. It passes directly next to a large Douglas fir, west side. Courtyard redesign ends short--

I am sore and exhausted. Unfortunately didn’t get to sleep until ~4am, woke up a little after noon to start working ~1pm on the Courtyard. Good news is, I DID get the Fuji apple tree in the ground, alongside two of the dogwood shrubs. Bad news is, that was a lot of work and I’m nowhere NEAR done.

Genie: ok what do you want for your birthday Trump: a military parade, oh, and also millions of people on the street chanting my name Genie: okie dokie

Holy shit, Georgio Manos is real

Hmm... Thinking about maybe trying to net up most of the trees and shrubs, try and keep 'em just that little bit more protected from the deer, one more layer. Alas, all the stuff is for keeping birds off your berries; dunno if it'll hold up. Guess I'll have to see.

Me, Britney, and Gene, just hanging out on the front page from my high school days (This probably is my most minor celebrity interaction)

For fuck's sake Firefox, STOP EATING MY UPLOADS, I SWEAR TO CHRIST

Not much to report on the garden front today; had to run into town for meds, as I’d said before. Daytime staffer had a major project at the observatory (which IS his job, after all), so he couldn’t come over and work on anything either. ‘Salright, we all needed a day “off”.

Oh dang. Looks like it's headed, not quite THIS way, but in this direction. A lot of those listed locations are presently LOADED with tourists. I may not like 'em, but I do hope they stay safe.

Oh dang, that's only like 10 miles south of my place, which itself is almost literally across the street from Tech. I hope everyone's doing alright up there. Batten down the hatches.
