Honestly I just don't get it.

THE CALL FOR THE MOURNING WOMEN: Ancient Wisdom for a Grief Illiterate World by Renita Weems. How needed are such professional mourners today, woman who carry on the ancient, sacred art of lamentation... women who have gone to the epicenters of their own grief... open.substack.com/pub/rjweems/...

Thanks! I am troubled by this headline that suggests these two aren't deeply intertwined already. He didn't just "meet" with Hegseth: theconversation.com/why-the-reli...

Christian patriarchy is one story. "By the second century, “60% of the members of Christian communities...were women...women with raised hands comprised 70% of Roman catacombs portraits compared to 10 percent of men..." When women are too free...a backlash: www.cbeinternational.org/resource/rev...

Excellent overview of the madness of the toxic empathy script adopted by the many platformed biblical patriarchy influencers. Of course the shaming and subjugation of women are part of its roots, where Jesus is MIA. See our last post @bethfelkerjones.bsky.social open.substack.com/pub/bethfelk...

The guy planting a DC church😣"...we live in a generation that hates the idea that a husband has genuine authority in the home,” he said, specifically calling out “both the feminists who know they are feminists and all the evangelical feminists...” churchleaders.com/news/512398-...

Please tell me how journalism is taught these days? Journalists are losing their jobs as Guardian’s new partnership with Open AI-- just one of many...

Another excellent article with layers to unpack @rickpidcock.bsky.social Money, misogyny, power, politics & don't be fooled about CA megachurch Saddleback allowing woman pastors, what a horrific scam. Excellent @wademullen.bsky.social I recognize Christian patriarchy as a Gaslight Religion. "In 1938, British playwright Patrick Hamilton wrote Gas Light, a suspense drama in which a husband manipulates his wife into believing she’s going insane..." open.substack.com/pub/wademull...

To heal from the daunting traumas caused by patriarchy: shed layers upon layers of patriarchy-- historical, cultural, communal, religious, in our schools, political systems, workplaces. The traumatic impact of patriarchy in families and throughout generations in itself is a great feat.

🎯👏"If we believe God ordained and blessed patriarchy, we must grapple with the female leaders he commended. If we think his plan was for mutuality between men and women, we must read our Bible with a dust rag in hand." @jkmath6.bsky.social

Abuse Epidemics in Evangelical Networks: The Crucial Voices of Christian Feminists and Faithful Women Who Won't Be Silenced. They have been dedicated for years explosing abuse. May justice be served in the Robert Morris case, a spiritual advisor to Trump 😭New Substack: tinyurl.com/49ryduy9

🧵Just how "traditional" are "traditional gender roles"? For that matter, how "biblical" are "biblical gender roles"? These are the kinds of questions we're dealing with in our upcoming series, "It's a Man's World: The Genesis 3:16 Effect." For example ...

Tamar. The daughters of Lot. Sarah. Rachel. Leah. The mothers of the Old Testament are highly motivated to bear children - and also totally unhinged about it. Is the Bible really a story about saving the world by forming perfect, nuclear families? www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfMM...

Classic Rachel Held Evans🥲. How she flipped the evangelical biblical womanhood script on its head. m.youtube.com/watch?v=KTNb...

I love this painting of Harriet Tubman I saw at the Harriet Tubman museum store on a visit to Cambridge MD. It was painted by a local artist, George Wright. #HarrietTubman

More HARD CORE “biblical” patriarchy in Washington, DC. Doug Wilson is planting a church. Thanks @mburtwrites.bsky.social for alert, you are so on 🎯 “Determined Christian nationalists angling for administrative power... so troubling.” he says the Apostle Paul meant women should make the sandwiches.🥵

Some say Paul was a misogynist, others say a feminist, what are some things the Bible says? @margmowczko.bsky.social margmowczko.com/paul-romans-...

"What I love about this story is that instead of highlighting figures who are setting ridiculous expectations for women—like casing homemade hot dogs while wearing a ball gown...its stars are women deconstructing damaging gender teachings and helping others do the same." www.elle.com/life-love/op...

So much of this in an era in the 2000s when highly sexualized content exploded in the media was so harmful to women and girls, and young men & men, too. Grievesome. Who was producing & writing the content? www.threads.com/@latimes/pos...

This is an important topic www.arrestthemidwifefilm.com

Mabel Ping-Hua Lee (1896-1966), was a leader in the women’s suffrage movement and even led a parade of nearly 10,000 people through New York. She was the first Chinese woman to earn a PhD. in economics in the United States. #AAPIHeritageHistoryMonth #MomSky

Great read, food for thought. "we hope that maybe the Gnostic gospels will be good resources for a more feminist Christianity (They aren’t)..." @bradleyjersak.bsky.social substack.com/@bradleyjers...

“Faith, Sexism, and Justice” teaches that patriarchy is sin...defines patriarchy as “a social system that enables men to have more power than, and power over, women and people who do not conform to socially accepted gender roles” @LivingLutheran www.livinglutheran.org/2025/04/luth...

My husband's rant on patriarchy. "Patriarchy obligerates women. She's puts herself through college, then gets sexually harassed in the workplace, or is underpaid. I know hundreds of women raped, beaten by husbands, molested as girls, then get suicidal. Patriarchy disrespects, obligerates women!"

My husband's rant. "The word feminism (as defined in the dictionary) needs to be said more. What's wrong with women wanting equal pay, to be valued, to have a voice & agency, to pursue their dreams. When opponents, women too, demonize feminism, they demonize women."
