This is a war that is now being fought between two conscript armies, both of which are deploying highly technical means of warfare to kill the other side's teenagers and 20 somethings. Being in any way complicit in the funneling of more military tech into the war zone should make your blood run cold

A lot of people in the west have no idea how central homophobia is to russian propaganda and their fascist ideology. It is a massive part of their national identity, how the are NOT degenerate queers like the fallen societies in the west are, and how russia needs to purge the world of it all.

this story is just a great illustration of NIMBY nihilism. at core, these people have no vision for anything. they simply oppose change for the sake of opposition. (i also think there is an element of death denial here — if i can prevent all physical changes i can deny the reality of my mortality)

There's a pretty explicit test case of a center left party abandoning trans people and immigrants. Labour in the UK have done just that and their political support has imploded while legitimizing the fascist Reform party. Dem consultants seem content to follow this strategy.
