Musk in search of a heart; Trump too, although they likely won't look too hard.

What does this remind you of? Careless regard for parental to child bond we had experience with at our own Southern border during T's last term, About 1000 have never been reunited. Careless and dangerous. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/18/u...

This is quite an article. Digital Services act of Europe is something we need to have actual Free Speech and not what the oligarchs & tech companies want us to be fed. Three decades ago the social media companies were exempted from what news has to comply with. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

Speaker Johnson, originally struck me as more sincere than the former ousted Speaker, but now despite his conservative, "George Will" sort of grooming, he's really a MAGA, and Trump advocate. Suggesting Zelensky resign sort of says it all. www.yahoo.com/news/speaker...

Aleichem said, "Life is a dream for the wise, a game for the fool, a comedy for the rich, a tragedy for the poor."

Musk posted 3 weeks back of throwing US Aid in the wood chipper with such glee, and now shredding some new agency. The many civil servants who have done meaningful work, were unceremoniously dismissed in a day's time to walk out of with nothing more than a box of office supplies.

Here we are again with this hierarchy of some persons being of greater worth than others. It's a frightening world when lead by such a prehistoric mind. Explore this gift article from The New York Times. You can read it for free without a subscription. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/25/u...

www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tnQ... So good on positive solutions, and the brazen corruption thru Trump's crypto, to foreign influence. But also great thoughts on the attention economy and monetizing it towards social health instead of no duty of care shown by social media's business plan.

Seems contradictory, but then there's no coherence to this Admin.; that seems the point. But as USA backs away from world leadership, does it seem to you that we're acting like colonizers with more demands than when we actually were an Empire?--on Ukraine, Gaza, Greenland and whatever's next?

Billionaire class stealing our public monies-- all actionsof a similar cloth. Most outrageous (Greenland, Canada, Panmas, Gaze) are BS distractions. Education-1 of last public services to privatize for private equity. All about enriching the billionaire class. Worth a listen.

stateofnation.org Well-being of nation, a group that's advised 4 presidents and got together (many think tank from differing political persuasions) to look at all the metrics of how well (or poorly) the US is doing along many dimensions.

Overhauls of whole societies, or BIG PLANS, never go well. This one here reminds me a bit more of Mao's Cultural Revolution. I'm recalling the "elites" being folks like actors and professors who are sent to work farms. Unless you'd lie and elevate them, you would be punished.

We have compared Trump's regime to Germany's 1930/40s, but I think there's an amalgam of BIG PLANS over history that go amuck. Whether it's the Nazis who think their gaining an economy and pride thru a false Aryan race. Or it's Stalin in Russia, or Mao in China with the Cultural Revolution.

from The New Yorker Daily A pardon for a dark-Web folk hero: Ross Ulbricht, the founder of the online black market Silk Road, was pardoned by the President last week, for crimes related to drug trafficking, money laundering, and computer hacking. He has become a mythic figure in the crypto community

Of 14 million immigrants without legal status or temp.permission, a 622,000 have criminal charges or conviction with but 16,K in ICE custody. 1.4 total have final deportation orders. These are damning figures for a supposed "urgent emergency" taking all the oxygen and attention.

www.nytimes.com/interactive/... Some doable ideas that provide fairer Gove't with functionality. Six parties from two and proportional representation instead of "winner takes all" leads to coalition governing. Two ideas with great sensibility.

Trump Sees National Emergencies Where Experts Say There Are None Distractions. Real emergencies are homelessness, income inequality, great divisiveness, health care and cost of drugs, and poverty with eroding safety net. How about some attention to some of those. www.nytimes.com/2025/01/22/c...
