We are going out of town and usually use Rover for the dogs. We had one girl come by and she backed out because Bear was too big (he also acted like an idiot). The next girl was about 5' tall ... said I've got a doberman. Bear loved her and she was great with him.

I was looking through some little bins that I store electronic parts in trying to find some headers or something and I found Yogi's last rabies tag in it. 2006. Yogi was the first dog I had on my own. I think I'll put the tag on my keychain.

Dad says he loves dogs so much because it's in his blood. The first dog he knew was his dad's, Tara, an Irish setter. She died of old age in the early 80s. A year ago his dad had to change his alarm password, he changed it to Tara's birthday. He said he would never forget that all those years later.

What is it about dogs that really connects you to them? The way they look so cute, the innocence, their unbounded capacity to love? For me it's the way they look at you. Their eyes. They have an intense but casual gaze that is fascinating.
