Now he speaks for mothers? Get out of here Farage!

'he said Pakistanis were “represented in every mainstream political party” and he welcomes the fact South Asian people like him “get to lead political parties and get to lead countries”.' At no point does Sarwar claim the Pakistani community should be prioritised. www.holyrood.com/news/view,ni...

'Look around: some of these self-styled free speech warriors are doing everything they can to ruin the lives of everyone who doesn’t 100% agree with them.'

'The third of young white men convinced they’ve been passed over for promotion because of their identity.' Along with the women losing out and the EDI hires being cancelled, it begs the question just who is getting all the opportunity then? www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Our rocket plant which we've nicknamed BoJo is continuing to sprout seeds everywhere and is taking over our garden with offshoots. We love rocket but it needs control, any useful tips would be gratefully received. Thanks!

👍😂

Sending love to the people of Liverpool tonight, as well as the team's fans.

Because they drank the Thatcher Kool Aid and believe in self, self, self rather than society.

'Hope Not Hate testifies, far-right parties like Britain First mask the extent of their racism & misogyny whilst out canvassing, saving it for internal chat behind closed doors. Despite Reform’s cosmetic efforts, it continues to attract candidates with extreme right, often repulsively toxic views.'

Well now, who would have thought it? The President spreading fake news!

@dd-rubin.bsky.social I love this 😆

But the playground taunt of “DEI hire” nonetheless feeds an age-old grievance, a lurking sense that someone has a job that could've been yours. It creates a climate where what was fast becoming unsayable in polite company can, once again, be said with confidence. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

@gabyhinsliff.bsky.social This is an excellent article. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre... Just having an enviable job, while not being a straight white man, is grounds for suspicion – especially if you have the audacity to champion lifting others up the ladder.

just checked on some of the young Reformers I interviewed for a previous piece who were standing as council candidates & one's now deputy leader aged all of 22, found a 19yo cabinet member for children's services, sure this is going to be...fine in an era of unimaginably tough budget settlements

'“The refusal of Reform councillors in West Northamptonshire to undertake equality and diversity training flies in the face of their legal duties as councillors. It also calls into question their commitment to ensure everyone gets equal access to council services.' Not representing all constituents.

The heinous murder of the couple took place on the soil of your biggest ally, not in the UK, France or Canada. May their souls rest in peace and not be used for political gain.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... 'Since 2006, Denmark has tied the official retirement age to life expectancy and has revised it every five years.' This simplistic model doesn't take into account the health inequalities between groups which lead to some living longer than others. It is grossly unfair.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/article... Musk who is gifted a role in US government by Trump complains that the requirement for 30% ownership by historically disadvantaged groups is unmeritocratic. Go figure.

Leaders enter the Oval Office uneasily, especially since the kicking administered to Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The South African president came armed with gratitude, two golf stars, a billionaire and compliments on the decor – and kept a cool head and a straight face as he was ambushed.'

'One side wanted to do bilateral business; the other to pander to the grievances of his domestic base, many of whom doubtless relished the public scolding of an anti-apartheid veteran. No solution was proffered to the imaginary problem.' www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

This is exactly how I feel about those who voted for Brexit and the Reform UK voters.

The groups featured in this year’s report make up the “hard-right movement that has long been behind rhetoric & actions that target Black people, women, immigrants, Jewish people, Muslims, and low-income, Indigenous & LGBTQ+ people”, according to the Project’s interim director, Rachel Carroll Rivas.

Trump “is basically cutting off international knowledge to American students, he is reducing soft power, and therefore weakening America … And for me personally, it’s going to mean tremendous problems in terms of teaching.” www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025... This should concern everyone.

Political parties, once embedded in the life of communities, have become more detached from them & less representative of their varied social makeup. The cultural shifts of the Thatcher/Reagan era in the 1980s, inaugurated a more individualist age. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

www.theguardian.com/commentisfre... The savage austerity inflicted by George Osborne in the 2010s degraded the public realm, closing leisure centres, libraries, youth clubs and arts centres. Inevitably, the loss of free or cheap social spaces hit the less well off hardest.

www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025... It still won't be enough for those whose raison d'etre is for the UK to be closed for business to the EU and unwelcoming to even the most needy.

Menstrual anxiety, concerns about leaking, feelings of shame and embarrassment owing to menstrual stigma, bullying, challenges managing symptoms while in school, & difficulties accessing toilets during lessons, plus the experience of debilitating symptom, may also be contributing to difficulties.

www.theguardian.com/society/2025... I will never forget the day when one of my teachers told a humiliated 13-year-old me that she knew I'd started my cycle after my 100% attendance record suddenly nosedived by two days off per month.

www.theguardian.com/world/2025/m... Senior figures in Trump administration including Marco Rubio, the secretary of state, had criticised the proposals last year because of Mauritius’s relationship with China. The imperialists tell Mauritius who they can do business with while cosying up to Putin

Peter Lamb, the Labour MP whose constituency is home to about 4,000 Chagossians, criticised the deal asking “what should I tell my Chagossian constituents, when they ask the moral basis upon which the UK is ignoring their right to self-determination while we fight for it in Ukraine for Ukrainians?”

And if I may add a third category Mr Parody PM: - Extremists who believe that the Empire still reigns and Britannia continues to rule the waves!

There's a home for incompassionate Tory and Reform politicians in Trump's America when they do their usual threat to leave if the government try to make a more fair and just society.

'The Guardian contacted the councils now run by Reform – Derbyshire, Doncaster, Durham, Kent, Lancashire, Lincolnshire, North Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, Staffordshire and West Northamptonshire – and they all said they had no such schemes.'

'Last year Giorgia Meloni, the prime minister, granted citizenship to Milei, citing his Italian family roots. The move sparked outrage among opposition politicians.' Milei closes avenues for children of disappeared to find true identity while exploring his own. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/m...

This is a patent attempt to use the education system to grow the Far-right voter base from the cradle! All the charges they make against the so-called woke movement pales into insignificance.

I thought anti-abortionists believe only God takes life?

“I’d be concerned about consumption inequality, wealth inequality and income inequality... “Think about inequality as being the gaps between the rungs in the ladder, & social mobility as how easy it is to climb up or down in a generation. It becomes harder to class-jump in a really unequal place.”

Guest on @lbc.co.uk Ross Clark a Spectator & DM columnist claims UK tax and excessive regulation is pushing wealthy people out of UK. Harping back to the 70s he talked of a politics of envy in response to a rich list that's frankly vulgar.

Women are not incubators.

This must be what they mean by doubling down.

'Dan, the pro-EU independent eight points clear of his far-right rival, George Simon. Simion, a self-professed Trump admirer, had 45.8%. Australia, Canada, Romania and soon Poland. Let this be a lesson to those trying to emulate Trump - voters don't want it. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/m...

I'm with Bill

Thanks for reposting ‪@diamondforyes.bsky.social. I sincerely hope the UK electorate heed these warnings. There can be no crying we didn't know as some have done post Brexit. There are plenty of warning signs, please don't double down. It is okay to have a change of heart.

Could this be the beginning of sense returning to Europe? (Of which we are a part - just saying).
